Still have huge issues with stubbly facial hair -
21-11-08, 12:48 PM
Hi ladies, ive started quite a few threads about this rather shameful problem of mine, ive received some excellent advise but this facial hair wont budge - its upper lip and bit on the chin.
Ive been waxing (then plucking odd hairs) since young age and the hair has got coarser and worse. Im not a beauty pro or anything - so i need some advice. I bought a perrot rigot heater and the blonde wax beads - its very good, but im stil left with stubble re growth in 2 days or so - What can i do? Is there a stronger wax for short stubbly hairs? Any lotion to apply afterwards to help the hair regrowth process slow down? any at home laser kits (although read bad reviews on them) i dont want to go for laser cos i dont want to let it grow and shave it - im scared and as for electrolysis - again, i cant let it grow, id be mortified as the hair is black and coarse - ugh!! anyways im babbling, any advice would be good - x |

***non pro comment coming up
***Have you contacted your doctor to find out whether you have a hormone imbalance? It could be something that could be helped by medication. Just a thought ![]() |

Can I just ask a few questions - how long are you leaving it in between waxings?
How long are the hairs when you wax them? Are you leaving the hair in between the waxings? There are hair growth retardant products available but they dont inhibit the growth completely. You say you are not a beauty pro and normally I wouldnt recommend that anybody does this type of treatment unless you have received the full training. |

Hi,
Go and see your doctor, it maybe as already said a hormone inbalance. But they may also pay for laser treatment for you, I have heard that ladies have got this treatment on NHS before. For laser you cannot puck, use hair removal cream or wax, but you can shave. Call into a laser salon and ask for their advice and prices, then you know what the treaments will cost. Laser is very effective...that would be my choice. Good luck with what ever path you choose. Lotsa luv x x |

Thanks for the replies.
The reason i wont go for elecrolysis is cos you cant touch the hair AT ALL until you have finished all treatments - which can take months which means walking around looking like a man til she has finished...at least with waxing, i see the hair i wax it. i wax it about twice a week - i have to do each side 3 times until all hairs are out - the hair is visible - over the skin, you can feel it - 1mm long roughly. ithen pluck the odd hairs left - by pulling them by the root as advised - the next day i see the hair again. its just that area - i dont have hormone imbalance as im not that hairy much else - well in greek all greek people have dark hair - unfortunately! any chance of telling me a name of one of these creams so i can research it further? thanks again, i dont know who else to turn to - |

You can trim the hair between electrolysis appointments. And if you go weekly and the therapist clears it each week, it shouldn't be that hard to live with. You will only ever have a weeks growth and it will get less and less each week. If it's done properly, you will start seeing results fairly quickly. The thing is with electrolysis, it is the only permanent method of hair removal.
No pain, no gain. Weekly electrolysis appointments and a year down the line you could be liberated from this anxiety forever! |

With your waxing you need to leave a far longer gap in between.
The reason you are feeling more hairs after a few days is because the hairs you have previously waxed have started to come through. If you left a gap of ideally 3 weeks in between the waxes after about 3 or 4 wax times of doing it at that length of time you will have all the hairs at the same growth cycles so you will be able to go that long and not see the hairs for a longer period of time. You will get the hairs our far better too if they are that little bit longer. Its also a wonder your skin isnt more damaged in waxing them this close together. I also think that laser treatment or electrolysis would be better for you in the long term. |

Thanks for the waxing tip, i did think that the hairs coming through were old hairs, rather than the ones id waved previously -
my ski is fine, i use the recommended lotions, plus the wax i use - the blonde thing (cant remeber the name) is meant to grab onto the hair rather than the skin - and my skin feels just fine - its a good wax actually - i will try to go longer inbetween - thanks for the tip. so does a lotion out there exist to help me go longer in between waxes? cos its a viscious cycle for me - i use GIGI slow growth but its pretty rubbish - |

There are a couple - the most popular one being PFB vanish. I also use the PHD one and I also believe that Hive do one to, although I some times doubt how efect all this type of product are.
They discuss this type of product on this thread: Ingrown Hairs and Waxing - Salon Geek As the ingrown hair product tends to be used for the same purpose. Can I ask - did you ever get your waxing done professionally? |

The trouble with facial hair is that you need to let it grow and only wax and then you'll see it reduce and become softer in time. However, you're between the devil and the deep blue sea as you can't stand it when it breaks through the skin so you pluck. Then, the hair never gets a chance to get in the same cycle of growth.
I've seen great success with a few of my clients who had been shaving their upper lip daily. I waxed them once a week which is not ideal as you should leave it 4 weeks for best results, however, the hair became soft and sparse in no time. The deal was that they left it alone in between waxes. After each wax, they can leave it longer and longer until you get four weeks apart. Believe me....it works. Try Perron Rigot Escential Rose which is brilliant on short, tough hair. It sets immediately and it comes in white/cream coloured beads. xxx |

If the treatment is carried out correctly, there is no reason for you to get scars. I agree with Oey that you need to leave much longer between waxing, if you are going to carry on with waxing. Although I disagree about the products - inhibitors are different to ingrown hair prevention. Although I am sceptical about inhibitors. I will let you know when my magic wand arrives. |
