With skin-care it's important you check out a variety of ranges & choose the one you most believe in; after all you are the one who has to sell the treatments & products!
I'd also consider the type of business you are (i.e. do you want a 'holistic' facial range, one with a more 'medical' image, one that oozes luxury?), what the local competition is using (i.e. is the market for that range saturated where you are based), what you think your intended clients will prefer (ask them!) & of course start-up costs. Also consider the brand's popularity, it's a lot easier to sell an established range that has longevity, but then you risk having little point of difference. On the flip-side, whilst an unknown range might give point of difference, it also makes it harder to sell the products/treatments, especially now so many people tend to be led by what they've seen/heard in magazines. Personally, I took a loan to take on Decleor as that has always been my favourite range (and I've worked with loads of different ones in the last 12 years), and the risk has more than paid off in increased facials & retail. Once you have a few you're interested in e-mail them & the reps will come out with samples & talk you through the company, it's philosophy & products/services - don't forget to ask about samples, training & support (with Decleor for example I get a % of free samples & promotional material depending on how much I order & training). My advice is take your time & get exactly the right range for you & your clients! |

Eve Taylor are great products and affordable. They have no minimum order. Have a look at www.eve-taylor.com or phone 01733 260161 for information. Good luck finding a range.

What Martin said is really important about what type of facials / skincare do you want to offer and what will give you a USP / edge over your competitors.
If you are looking for a more powerful, medical, treatment line then Environ is excellent and well worth a look at. |

Environ have a start up of only £500 and no minimum order thereafter. It is a results driven brand too. You need to think about what your target clientelle will want from a facials, relaxation and pampering or dramatic results which will require serious involvement from the client via their home care routine.

Martin has some really good advice there.
Also ask what on going support will you be given. Do you need rep visits or will they just waste an hour of your time when you could be seeing a client? Will they help you promote yourself? Also get samples so that you can really try a range. |
