False eyelashes -
04-12-08, 04:35 PM
Hi
I trained at college to do false eyelashes - using the small cluster of lashes, rather than totally individual lashes. I haven't done any clients since training so I practised at the weekend on a friend of mine. I used the salon system cluster lashes, but found that the lashes kept coming away - especially on one eye that kept watering. I wonder whether this has anything to do with it? or whether the adhesive/glue wasn't very good? I am not looking to retrain with any lash companies at the moment and would rather just use the skills I have, until I can make some money for further training. I want to continue using these cluster lashes, so if you have any tips, product recommendations etc I would love to hear them! Thanks very much. |

Thanks Calla, I shall take a look at that tutorial.
My friend/client said her eye did this sometimes and was not because she had glue in it or anything. I just thought it could have washed away the glue. I will certainly try that glue you mentioned as well. Thanks very much |

Yes love if your clients eyes water while you are doing the treatment this will weaken the bond and sometimes render the bond useless,
this happens with quite a few people, its just a reaction to something been near the eye, if you get your client to hold a small piece of tissue at the outer corner of the eye this will absorb the tears and the eye will stop watering after a few Min's once it has become used to been worked near hth ![]() |

Thanks Loubylou. I will do that if it happens again in the future.
Do you apply the lashes with client sitting up? or lying down? I learnt to apply the lashes with the client lying on a couch and me positioned as if I was doing a facial. Also, have you ever applied them over a made up face? or do you apply before make up? I have read over some make up books that say the lashes should be added after the face is made up - but I am certain this would affect the adhesion of the lashes. Thanks again. |

I've applied them to a made up face, but an unmascara-ed eye. The makeup on the rest of the face makes no odds but you want the adhesive to stick to the lash itself not the mascara, or even worse, the eyelid!

you can apply lashes after make up, but any residue from the make up can prevent the lashes from adhering propery. I alays use strip lashes after make up, or clusters before. but there is no reason as Calla said, for you to just put the clusters on after make up. Just take into account if the clients eyes do water, then they will get into a bit of a mess!
