Do any of you offer this treatment what results do you get. Do you lease the equipment? Do you make a profit??

Being Australian, pigmetation is common and at a much younger age!!
There are varying reasons for it...hormonal, lifestyle etc. So it may depend on what is causing her pigmentation and if you remove the cause of the pigmentation when treating it. I would suggest that she actually goes to a 'paramedical or dermal therapist' (that is what we call them in Australia). These are beauty therapists that have taken advanced training and often work with docs and nurses in aesthetics industry. Generally it is by a course of IPL or peels that improve pigmentation but a consultation with a professional will be needed and pre and post care needs to be adhered to.
Also, just as an add on, I have a friend with Vitiligo with white and dark patches and I also had a belief that it would make it worse (i.e, darker patches darker, and lighter patches slightly darker). I sprayed my friends hand as a patch test (in an area where it is dark and light) and she was thrilled with the results...she said that her hand had never been so blended for years. I have freckles and that is why I love the occasional spray tan...it blends them in!!! So I would have to agree with Collin that as a temporary fix 'faux tan' may help if it is really bothering your mum.

I have a microdermabrasion machine and it's really popular. You can lease them but it was like a lease to own after 5 years.. not sure if they are all like that as i only looked into 1. Its was going to work out that i would be paying nearly double by the 5th year so in the end i bought mine outright. But you can make a good profit with this especially as you mainly sell this on a couse of 6 which i charge £225 for. Then its once a month after that. I find its one of my most popular treatments and the results are great.

My boss purchased our laser machine, not leased, it was around $150,000. If you work hard at building your clientel it will pay for itself. We charge $80 for underarms (which is relatively innexpensive in our area), and we do it in 15mins. We are VERY busy with laser, and compared to our esthetic services, it brings in 95% of our revenue - our esthetics services are just a great way to get clients in the door and to advertise our laser treatments.

We do not do microdermabrasion, we do peels, but both are easy to do and a great add-on to most facials. And you can find machines for under $20,000 if you look.

You can make good money with microdermabrasion and laser. But you need to do your research and get the right location for you business and market it well.

A lot of the companies that sell this equipment hold courses. I think Lynton have one this month about setting up a business. Check out their website.
