I had a new client a little while ago for a spray tan. She said she wanted to be medium brown so I said ok I shall use the 10% She was umming and arring and asking her hubby if she should have the 12% (sorry but not down to hubby)
I told her I strongly suggest you try 10% first (she had never had on before)
So anyway did the 10%

2 weeks later I went back and she was over the moon with the colour and said it was dark enough for her but this time she wants to try darker. I had no problem with that, her skin could take it.

She emails me today saying the application is fine but the 10% was darker than the 12%
Well it's now a week later so there will be no point going to see it now
I asked her if she had got in the shower a few hours (acidic levels) before and she said yes she had left it the same amount of time as last time.
So I said well there's nothing I can do now as you are telling me a week later and have advised her that the reasons she may be thinking this is because she has gotten used to having some colour as the first appointment was the first time she had ever been sprayed.
She may be after a free tan but i'm not offering one a week later.

Has this happened to any one before with this solution?

Sounds like this could simply be a case of client expectation...from no tan to a 10%...big change...she gets used to this tone then try's a 12% expecting to be vastly darker than the 10%....the jump isn't that big compared to white to 10%

Thank you Collin, this is what I am thinking. I did explain that there isn't going to be a major difference before I applied it and she agreed to having it.
Maybe they need to invent a 20% for this client xxx

Find out if she was on her monthly cycle as this can cause tans to develop lighter,
other than that i agree she was used to having some colour and had too high expectations,
if she wants to be really dark you could always follow Collin to B&Q

hi i put a 12% on me to day i usally have 10% but was running out so did the 12% and it is defanlty darker so dont worry! but i have done my boy friend 10% frist time then a 8% 2 weeks later n he though i had used darker! did really get it cos i could see it was lighter!!!

ok, I was using solutions from both ranges....the 8.5% and 12.5% from one range and the 10% as a medium from the other range...

the 10% definately sprays on with a darker colour guide than the other two and I think it develops darker than the 12.5% too, the 12.5% seems to be more of a golden tan whereas the 10% is a browner tan...

I ordered a sample of the basic 12% to try on the hairdressers who want to be browner than the 12.5% and they really liked it, thought it was much better than the one they normally have!

So my conclusion is this, the basic 8,10 and 12% are darker than the Q10 range with the .5%

If you are using solutions from the same range then I dont know lol (and I dont want to think about it either! mind is buzzing with tanning already lol lol)
