Eyelash extension Problems?? - 02-07-09, 07:55 PM

Hi has anybody had problems with semi perm lash extensions coming off after a couple of days. I've done my 4 sets for my Flirties certificate and 2 of them are saying they came off, they both wore mascara with them.

Any advice would be great x

Hi Sarahjs

Much of the issue is with the glue, oil of some kind coming into contact with the bonding and the wearing waterproof mascara.
The medical grade glue that I sometimes use for more sensitive eyes doesn't have as much hold as the ultra bond.
With regards to application, if you do not already apply a lash extension to 2/3rds the way up of the natural lash.
In my experience, the aftercare is normally the issue when things go wrong.
I hope that this helps a little.

Hi

If they are wearing mascara, what are they taking the mascara off with? This could be the problem. They need to use an oil free eye make up remover - preferably they should not be wearing mascara.

Hope this helps

They say they've used non oily products and followed my advice but I'm not sure if they have. The glue i use is the glue I got in my Flirties kit. I told them just to put mascara at the ends. I've also just found out that they both wore eyeliner as well. Do you think it's best if i advise no eyemake up. I've just started advertising to paying clients and don't want them coming back with lashes in there hand!! x

Between myself and Sarah we have worked out it was due to the models wearing eyeliners,
eyeliners contain oils and this is what has broken down the bonds, along with not very good after care from what i can work out,
all wet make ups should be avoided with semi permanent lashes and dry powder make up only should be worn,
you can apply a powder to give the effect of a liner if you use a fine brush,
you keep advertising to paying clients hun but ram it down their throats that they have to follow ALL after care or they will not last well

it doesnt matter how much i tell a couple of my clients about the eyeliner and mascara they dont listen at first i added more in for them but now i dont, one of them even wears a full set of strip lashes plus the extensions on a daily basis. Louise I am about to order some mink lashes how different are they to apply, also was browsing on other websites and came across feathers - wow! would you apply them in the same way? im thinking of using them for a photoshoot x

The mink lashes are usually very fine and a bit more fiddly to fit, you have to make sure you get lots in there for them to look good or glam or you will end up with the natural look,
the feathers come as a strip lash and you will need the temporary adhesive to fit these,
apply your adhesive to the strip lash and let it go tacky before fitting it to your client/model,
you can always give me a call if you have any problems hun
