Double spraying? - 03-07-09, 11:47 AM

Just read on another website that she double spray some clients to get a darker result, can you do that? Didn't think you could utill it had developed?

Just interested in what your opinions are as some clients do want to look nice and dark, even the palest of skin!!!!

If you double spray then it only makes the guide colour darker. Once they have showered it will still be the same as if they'd only had one spray so it's pretty pointless.
If she wants to go darker just use a higher percentage.
I think most people who double spray do so to make sure they haven't missed any bits but if you're confident in your technique then you only need to spray once.

Yea that's what I thought, was just wanderimg that's all as some clients don't understand and want to look as dark as possible!!!! So annoying.
And I've read that some thapists using sienna x do double sprays! I try not to use a darker % if it's wrong for there skin type as I worry about them looking orange. Just try and advise to go with the ligter and hve 2 of them in 48 hours if they want to.

i was on the phone to a man from LA tan yesterday who told me that their new 19% disco has been formulated so that you can spray heavier or lighter and once twice or however many sprays to make it darker and it wont go orange. i think it might be right for this solution as im pale and was sprayed with disco a few weeks ago and it came out about 8% looking. i was sprayed really light . Ive ordered some in so am going to mess about with it a bit and see if it can be made darker by double spraying xx

Are you sure they sent you the right solution?
The Disco is 18% and very dark! I've sprayed a few people with it and i have to say that even the one pale person i sprayed(a staff member who insisted), came out a lovely brown with no orange in sight!
It's never come out light though!

i havent recieved mine yet should be here on monday. it was a geek that tried the 18% on me to see what it was like but she sprayed really lightly as were a bit scared of it and it wasnt that dark . great for me but i expected darker for 18%. When i mentioned this to LA tan the man said that this solution was made so that a lighter spray will give a lighter effect and a heavier spray a darker one. Or he said you can spray once, wait a min then spray again for darker. It was only the disco that works in this way but im going to play about with it a little before using it on clients to see and the geek who sprayed me has kindly offered to spray me again but a bit more this time to see if that makes a difference.

Have you tried the 10.5 and how do you find that ? is it light/dark? would it suit a pale person? ive also ordered this one xx

Yes i have the 10.5% as well. It is more of a natural colour than a brown colour. Only tried it on myself and it wasn't that dark really. I am not pale though and have 12% Nouvatan on a the moment but will be going 14% next week

so would you say 10.5 would cover someone that normally takes 5 or 8 tantrick if its not that dark? and 18 for everyone else with lighter or heavier sprays? the solutions i have are tantrick 5,8 and 10, tandare booster drops and 10.5 and 18 LA tan. but im wondering if the LA Tan 10.5 maybe isnt as dark as tantrick or other brands 10% and should maybe be used for lighter people xx

I have been tanning for nearly 4 years and always spray twice. This is not because of lack of confidence or inexperience as i am very good at what i do. I was trained to spray twice (2 light sprays instead of one heavy spray) and it has never failed me yet. I guess its what you`re comfortable with.

Same here! Nothing wrong with my confidence either, just trained that way and never had a problem - If it's not broke and all that

The people that double spray were obviously taught to do that because thats whats right to do with that product.

I use Sienna X and was NOT taught to double spray, so I assume you weren't either. Use is as you were taught for best results. There is no need to double spray with Sienna. If you want a darker result use a darker solution, you have plenty to choose from.

Apart from that, its just wasting solution, not good business sense

You can spray 2 light coats or 1 heavier coat and get the same result. At the end of the day it depends on the total amount used. There will only be so much taken on by the skin and the rest gets wiped off on clothes/sheets or showered off. If a client wants to be darker and has the skin type to take it then spray up a % or two. Dont try and spray them the end result with the colour guide if you get what I mean.
