What is the best spray tan liquid? - 13-09-09, 01:32 PM

Hello Everyone,
What do you recommend as a liquid? Ive been using fake bake on people, but i have found that if they have pale skin, they can turn a bit orange.
I used this other product called natura sun, which is Green, so when you spray them, they turn green! But i had a comment on a lady that the next day when she washed it off, it was a brillant colour! I find that people wont want to be green for the rest of the day though. I want to invest on a good quality spray tan! Has anyone got any good recommendations?
Thanks
Sarah xx

I would say if its green, its old solution and needs returning if you have only just bought it.

Asking what the best solution on here is like guessing how long a piece of string is, we all have our favourites.

If your fairly pale you need to use a lower percentage, Fake Bake I believe is a 10%.

Tantrick do a 5%, Nouvatan do an 8% and Puri-Tan has a 7% which are very golden in colour rather than a brown colour. So the look you get will be natural.

Avoid the brown colours so you do not look fake, and find a company that have the light golden hues that will suit your skin tone better.

Other companies with light golden shades are Fantasy tan, sienna x, Beaubronz & Aviva Labs.

Call around for samples and see what you prefer and what works best for you.

Hi, Tantrick and LA tan are both really good and give really nice natural looking tans.

You need to choose a solution that ticks all the boxes.
What do you want from a solution?
Everyone has their favourites. I have tried solutions which have been a nice colour but they didn't fade well, or they didn't offer a good range of solutions.
You need to get some samples and try them out yourself.
You ideally want a solution that is a fab colour, lasts a good 7-10 days, fades well, smells nice, has a good selection of strengths to choose from and doesn't cost the earth.
I chose Nouvatan as it ticked all the boxes for me.
I sampled lots and did myself a list of pros and cons list. The 2 bottom ones on my list were 2 major companies, so it just goes to show that we all like different things.

every one has there favourites i know ive got mine !! lol there is no answer to this question its horses for courses different tan types suit different skin types really you have to find one that suits the majority of your clientel they dont all want what i would call a WAG tan stocking loads of different solution makes in all strenghths is costly and you run the risk of some of them going off but i would suggest you stocked a choclate brown type tan like puri tan/gimme brown and a natural golden type tan

Mine, his, hers, theirs and ours are the answers you will get and its only right that therapists or distributors selling a brand believe in what they are saying as being true

It is you that has to make the ultimate decision based on what it is you as a therapist and the customers specific to your area want from a spray tan solution.

The best way is to ring around all the companies that google will throw up for you and request samples to try out for yourself which are specific to your requirements..I.E. a natural golden or a tropical tan look etc etc

I see your in Spain so this has a bearing on which solution you go with..try and source solutions available in your country as postage costs to you from outside of Spain could well be costly

HTH and good luck

I normally use Fake Bake and have found it quite nice. The only thing is, it is soo dificult to get a distributor for it!
The natura sun is actually green in colour, but when it is washed off, it turns in to a tan.
I just think that people dont want to walk out looking green.
I actually think that i have some Tantrick in the salon, but then had reports from collegues that they didnt like it!
I am sooo confussed and i have a bride to spray tan tomorrow! I think im going to have to go with the natura sun, and just hopefully shop around and see what i can find!
Thank you all sooo much for your help
Sarah xx

I have used naturasun for 3 years and it is NOT green. I have every shade there is. Was it a sample of naturasun you had?? If so, maybe the heat had got to it and made it turn green. Its a fab tan

I'm not a tanning expert nor have I ever experienced a spray tan service but there was another thread here on salon geek the other day where a large percentage of people who DO do tanning as a business recommended Coutour tanning products .... I mention it as I believe they are distributed here in Spain which might work out cheaper for you if there is a distributor here. I believe it is not a complicated range, is reported to smell divine and gives a very good result. Why not get in touch with them and find out the details?

Couture is a lovely solution, I have sampled it and really liked it.

With Geeg mentioning about them being distributed in Spain, that rings a bell so why not contact them and ask them for a sample and ask about shipping -

Couture - tanning solutions and tan equipment

I hope you find the right solution for you xx

I have used solglow and tantruth and they both given a lovely natural colour . I do know that alot of people who ask about tans and what brand it is dont know alot unless you mention a big company like fake bake. They assume that if you use a company like fake bake then their tan will be good but are a bit unsure when you say something else so i have found that client information is important to my tanning side of the business. a bit off topic i now. Aolour of a tan depends on the clients ph level etc so the colour will always be diffrent . I stock a low DHA % and a higher one i liike an 8% and a 12% but golden colours i find give the best color. I have had i fake bake myself and was quite a bright colour which put me off using them try the samples and see for your self which you prefere xx

The solution that Gigi has mentioned - Couture - is a lovely solution. I have used it for the past 2 years and have only just recently stopped using it and switched to UnReal.

If you can get Couture in Spain, then GiGi is right, it would be a good option for you as it probably will be cheaper for you than having to import another solution. Couture is a very nice solution and I think you would be happy with it, just as I was for a very long time.

However if you find that you do have to import, then I stick by UnReal, as it is, in my opinion, a better solution than any other I have tried.

-yeah i have found that people with diferent skin tones and colours will go diferent colours with spray tan. So if the person is light or pale skinned, then i should use a lower % like 8? And if they have a tanned or olive colour skin, then i should use like 12%? Is that correct?
Thank you all for your help.
Theres a salon services in Spain, so they sell TanTruth and that perhaps would be easier for me, as i wont have to get shipment all the time. Ill try and see what i can find! Thank you!
