Had foils today with root tint can anybody tell me why I get the lines?? it's not the first time it's happened either different salons.

My other question is blonde colours I think they put a 9 with olaplex, I also think a toner was put on but it's not quite the blonde I was after, I've attached 2 pictures of my hair and the colour I want I'm going back but need to know is the blonde I want something I have to build on??. Thanks

You won't get that colour without the use of lightener (bleach).

What you want is achievable BUT you need to find an experienced colourist who is good at doing balayage. Ask to see evidence of their work if possible. It's not an easy technique to master, that's why you've been left with lines.

Thanks for reply....Yes bleach was used or is that standard anyway? Im wondering whether it wasn't left on for long enough? I'm clueless on the lightening side of things.....I love balayage but never seem to get the desired look wherever I go! I'm tired of chopping and changing salons :( I paid 95 today & hate the thought of having to go back to ask why I didn't get desired blonde and that the junior colourist has left me patchy with lines but I feel I've paid a lot today and need to go back to get it fixed.

There's your answer.
Realistically only a very experienced colourist will do a decent balayage job. Balayage is freehand painting, not foils. It's a creative skill that isn't taught at level 2 (or 3 generally) but as a seperate specialist course usually.

I think you should go back and complain as they're taking your money under false pretences.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of high street salons where they promise the clients that they can do everything but in reality their work is of a mediocre standard.

Also, it's not about price point but experience. Even if they charge a premium, it's no guarantee of quality. There are excellent inexpensive mobile and salon based hairdresser's who are great colourists, but it's finding one that's the trick.

Whereabouts are you based? I can recommend a good small salon near Newport.

this salon is so well established im pretty unhappy they let me walk out with the lines i have. they are mainly underneath but still, i watch countless videos of balayage out of interest and like you say no foils used. however i did hear them say bout them conducting heat? im guessing thats to lift colour.

im based in swansea so newport way out for me, any other recs?

can i ask regarding colour my hair has been bleached few times over last year but never reaches desired colour why could this be?? i really thought i could have got to it yesterday?

Most hairdresser's are only taught the basics of colouring and even on level 3, there were plenty on my course that were still quite 'uninformed'. So, it's not really surprising that you can struggle to find someone knowledgable and competent.

Maybe try using social media to find someone who is confident to post pictures of their own work. Make sure they've not just copied someone else's pictures though.

The look you're after requires a high level of skill so I'd guess that less than 10% of all qualified hairdresser's can do it well.
