We don't know about you but we have been glued to every website this morning trying to get as much Oscar gossip as we can get our little geeky hands on. Thank the beauty gods for John Clark, Senior Art Team member from London's premier salon Brooks+Brooks, who gives his verdict. Hairdressers out there - listen up! These are the trend requests about to hit your salon!

Penelope Cruz
The Brooks+Brooks Oscar hair favourite was Penelope Cruz’s faux bob, pinned underneath and set into a 50’s style wave. She looked so beautiful – the epitome of Oscar elegance.

Gwyneth Paltrow
Oh what a dress and her hair enhanced the look perfectly. Her creamy blonde locks were pulled back into a sleek ponytail which, from straight on, could have been mistaken for a bob but was in fact a low slung pony gathered at the nape and tucked behind her ears – very elegant.

Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep won the leading actress award for her role in ‘The Iron Lady’ and she wins our vote for her sleek French pleat which made the most of her fine hair. The fabulous cool biscuit tones in her hair colour covers any grey and she was utterly glamorous- a seriously sexy older woman!

Bérénice Bejo
Bérénice Bejo who was up for the prize of best supporting actress in the critically acclaimed movie of the year ‘The Artist’. Her neat up-do was enhanced by her vibrant copper shade and the front braiding which reflected her whimsical personality set her apart from the crowd.

Jessica Chastain
Totally on-trend with her peach toned blonde Jessica Chastain, who was hoping to take away the prize of best supporting actress in ‘The Help’ lost out to co-star Octavia Spencer who won the prize for this category. Jessica won us over with her loose waved Romantic look, simply gathered and then tonged at the ends so her tumbling locks fell onto her bare shoulders and complimented her dress perfectly.

Octavia Spencer
Big and beautiful – her hair reflected her own lovely curves and was very typical Hollywood glamour.

Viola Davis

Most improved gong goes to Viola Davis who has ditched the weaves we saw at the Baftas and dared to go au natural with a neat crop and burnt caramel tones at the ends - love it!

Glenn Close
The talented star of ‘Albert Nobbs’ Glenn Close looked lovely as she arrived hoping to win in the Best Actress category. Her textured bob with pearl and silver shades showed women over 50, how to go for glamour.

Rooney Mara
Rooney Mara looked a far cry from her part in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo for which she was nominated in the Best Actress category but she did not play it safe. Her jet black hair colour is brilliant next to her pale skin tone. The heavy geometric fringe and neat bun was truly statement hair but enhanced her unique gamine look to stunning effect.

Michelle Williams
Michelle Williams, nominated for best actress for her role in My Week With Marilyn kept to her demure pixie crop which suits her face shape perfectly and is lifted by her velvet blonde with cashmere undertones.

What do you think? Any stand out up-dos or downright fabulous flowing styles? Let us know what you think of Oscar hair trends!

Until then...geek on!

I'm not a hairstylist so please don't shoot me, but I thought Gwynneth Paltrow's hair was parted too low and emphasised her (OK but not her best feature) ears.
