Hi,

I have black hair and have done for a number of years. I am getting fed up of it now and would love to have light brown hair. I know black dye is very stubborn and I have had it stripped before which didnt result to much, just a very very dark brown.

Is there anyway I could go lighter without causing lots of damage?

Thanks.

Yes, it can be done. However, removing years of black dye build up and leaving you with an even colour and hair still in decent condition requires the input of an experienced colourist using quality products. You cannot get the same results from stuff bought in supermarkets.

Don't go to just anyone and be prepared to pay for (possibly), an expensive colour correction depending on the current condition of your hair.

If you go for a cheap option, there's a good chance you will regret it and end up with ginger hair.
