If i remember correctly it states on their site that the clear gel is meant for overlays? I haven't personally tried it but my guess is the consistency would be thinner than the builder gel

justanailaddict is correct.

The Clear Gel is for overlays on natural nails whereas the Clear Builder Gel is for building an extension.
And the Clear Gel is a thinner viscosity.
