Hi there I'm looking for some advice. I have just gone into full time work in a lovely beauty salon in my area. I previously worked there for a year on reception and loved it. Now I have started working as a therapist I sometimes like the job but a lot of the time I don't enjoy it. I work really wierd hours which I don't 100% like but I'm unable to change them at the moment. I love the girls I work with but the job in general I just have no motivation for. Everyone I work with are at such high standard and I don't feel good enough- yet I have no motivation to even be as good as them. I keep thinking beauty actually isn't the right route for me and maybe I rushed into it. But maybe it's because I have just started. But surely I should be loving it? I keep looking at other careers and feel happy and relief when I do. I'm just hoping someone I don't know could maybe give me some advice. Thanks

Hun if you already feel like that it probably isn’t for you. Your career of choice should at least make you feel satisfied if not happy, not crappy!
As you said yourself, if you don’t love what you do, you will never get better. You will end up hating everything you do and being unable to change it.
If you are already looking in other careers, then I think that’s a hint you should take into consideration

I think you should look for something that sparks a passion, at least slightly! If you don't like beauty at the beginning you're going to hate it a few years in!

If it was just because you were new, you would be sizzling to improve and be like your peers but as this isn't happening for you, I think you'd really be better off channelling your skills into something you actually love. X

I agree with what others have said.

When I started out I was totally crap [emoji90] But I would spend hours reading threads on salon geek. I was totally addicted to learning and trying to improve (and still am 10 years later!) I literally couldn't get enough. I would forgo my fav programs on TV to practice nails [emoji23]

I think in your gut you know [emoji173]️ perhaps a salon co ordinator might suit you better if you liked that role , now that you have beauty training it would certainly be an advantage?

Or perhaps a fresh start is what you need?

Keep us posted when you decide!

Is there a specific area of beauty that you do quite like and maybe you could specialise in that, like waxing or nails or lashes for instance. Xx
