Male thinning hair and scalp sunburn

Hello all

I've nipped over from the nail/skin side to ask for some advice for my husband whose hair is thinning and he is getting quite sore on the top of his head.

He's too old for a baseball cap, too young for a panama. Are there any hair gels that contain an spf?

I've heard that this stuff is pretty good:

But i would advise wearing a hat though as sunburn on the scalp can make the thinning issue even worse if it causes damage through scarring ect.! Take him out for a hat shopping day and im sure youll find something to suit :biggrin:

How about one of those Australian type sun hats. You know, the ones with the corks hanging all round the sides. Except buy one without the corks.
I think they look really cool.

thanks for your help, we have discovered he has a photosensitivity to the non-steroidal he has been taking on prescription for an arm injury.

The sunburn type rash is all over his ears, face, neck, chest where his shirt is open, arms, hands - basically any area that gets exposed to the sun not just the top of his head. He has stopped the pills but the doc has advised a hat as it may take some time for the photosensitivity to go. Poor bugger looks terrible! Piriton, sunblock and a BIIIG hat.
