I've seen so many amazing nails on pinterest with nail art on gel and acrylic nails. I tried using gel for nail art but it always ends up running before i can even get it in the lamp + the colours arent that strong either. I've heard acrylic paint is supposed to be really good?

What does everyone else use / recommend? :)

I use acrylic paint and brushes all I would do with gel is dotting x

Thanks! I've found that the only nail art i can do with gel is dotting and marbling, i've got some acrylic paints that i'll try out :)

I managed to do these with gel. How do you do marbelling? Xx

They're gorgeous! [emoji4]
It's so easy to do, if you search it on YouTube there's lots of tutorials as there's so many different styles!

I done these ones by painting upward lines with a striping brush with different colours of gel, and then using a clean brush I brushed it side ways starting from the left, then right and so on! It sounds complicated but once you see a video it'll be clearer! :)

P.s these are my clients natural nails, the nails on one had are longer than the other as she wouldn't let me file them down to match!

Sometimes you just need to cure after doing fine detail designs before it has chance to settle ;)

What acrylic paints do you guys use?x

I only do nail art with gel polish , I cure in stages so it doesn't run. I can't get on with acrylic paints.

Do you cover your design with clear acrylic after ?

If it's on gel polish I cover with that top coat, if its on normal nail polish I just topcoat. For gel polish I top coat the colour wipe the tacky layer paint my design in acrylic paint then top coat again. If you make a mistake then you can just wipe it off, and I think leaving tacky layer on makes your brush drag x

I use gel polish for any art and just build it up in layers. So I will do a quick bit of detail - flash cure while I do the same on the other hand - swap back to the first hand and add to the design - swap and flash cure. That way it doesn't have time to run! It sounds more complicated than it is xx

I think ppl prefer one or the other don't they! I end up traumatised if I try to do anything other than dotting with gel polish lol x

Before you do then patterns wipe the nail clean with your cleanser. This will stop the colours running. Then apply the pattern and set... then follow normal finishing steps.

Works for me, hopefully for you too :)

I use both acrylic paints and Shellac, depending on the design. Acrylic paints (I use Polycolor) I use for one stroke and very fine detailed designs. Shellac for everything else-marble, quick simple lines, flowers, dotting. Shellac I just find faster, since for acrylic paint I have to get my water, get brushes out, get paint to the right consistency...a lot of hussle, lol! I will do it for a specifically asked design, but if a client just wants "something pretty" without specifics 99% of the time I'll do something with Shellac and glitters/gems. And yes, I flush cure too in between different colours.

I am using both acrylic paints and gel polish for my nail art. Last month I went to The Nail Place. They provided me good nail art design.
