One of my clients has a sister who lives abroad. She said a sample was sent to hospital and came back negative for an infection.

Does anyone on here have any idea what it could be?

Many thanks! X

I would've said fungal nail infection so il be interested to see what others think.

Did they have any gels on or were using any products on the nails before this happened?

Looks like standard onycholisis to me. Why it's happened could be many many things, illness, poorly cared for previous enhancements, a nervous tick/habit, over zealous cleaning of under the nail, are just few things

I agree with Trinity. I've seen this before on someone with thyroid problems

I agree. It looks very similar to a problem I had a while ago. I had not realised that I had developed a habit of pushing my thumb nail behind my ring finger nail. I had mentioned it to a nail tech colleague and one day she spotted my 'habit'. I managed to break it in the end and nail have a healthy nail.

Thank you so much everyone for your excellent advice
