Hey geeks!
First let me preface by saying I am not a hair person, I'm a nail tech, so I have literally no idea what I'm doing!
Basically, I've booked a hair appt for Dec 6th to have my hair changed up, but before I do that I really really need to rid myself of the blue on my midlengths/ends.
Any ideas how I can do this? A lot of people have said fairy liquid??
Any help is hugely appreciated.
Thank you!

When you booked your salon appointment, did they do a consultation as they need to see and feel your hair before deciding on a course of action.

:rolleyes:No, don't use washing up liquid on your hair as it will cause excessive dryness and potential damage to the cuticle layer and it won't remove the blue.
People who advise these sorts of remedies have zero understanding of how different types of hair colour work!

What product did you use for the blue?
Was the blue applied to bleached hair? If so, there's a chance that it has stained the hair. Ideally, you need to use a special remover for the type of colour that was used.

Hi AcidPerm.
I didn't have a consultation as she is my usual stylist so she does know my hair.
It was the la riche directions turquoise colour. applied to bleached hair but we applied it dry, and it was left on for ages.
Is there a specialist remover that a total numpty such as myself could use?
thank you for your reply!

It has to be a direct dye remover not a remover for oxidising colour.
Joico do one but it's a salon only product.

I like Directions direct dyes because they have good staying power...As it was applied to dried bleached hair, I'm guessing it will have stained the cuticle layer to some extent.

In your situation, I'd ask your hairdresser to do some strand tests on your hair to see how it responds to different products. If she's knowledgable about direct dyes, she should know the options available. Sometimes, blue will lift out really easily and other times...:(

Were you looking to go back to blonde?
If the colour has stained the cuticle layer, I'd be recommending you try a reverse ombré with darker ends to mask the blue/green tinge. Otherwise, it will just look odd against the blonde.
You could try for a light/dark grey ombré if you don't fancy blonde/light brown.

Oh blimey!
I'm just trying to get back to a similar colour to my natural hair which is kind of a gingery blonde.
I'll definitely pop in and ask her about some strand tests.
Thank you so much for all you're help xxxx
