Hi,
I've been doubting the course from elearnuk and it's relivence in the Nail world, so I just wanted to ask if any of you have heard of the letters SAC. Dip after your name when qualified and if ASET Level 3 Award is recognised.
Cheers,
Heather

I think this is the NVQ Satellite Assessment Centres - where have you seen this.

It is in the online information that is published on the featured course of elearnuk.co.uk website. It says that once I have completed the course I will recieve the ASET Level 3 Award and will be able to add SAC. Dip behind my name. Any ideas what this means in the Nail World????

Just found it - Stonebridge Associated Colleges Dip. - Not specifically a recognised nail qualification.

Do you think I'll have trouble getting a job somewhere with this qualification? I'm thinking of becoming a mobile nail technician, so do you think I could start off with just this qualification - of course after alot more practice!?

Never heard of it! what does it stand for?

SAC dip, stands for Stonebridge Associated Colleges Diploma and the "ASET (Accreditation Syndicate for Education & Training) is a leading National Awarding Body specialising in providing, quality-assuring and certificating vocational learning programmes".

Unless it's a VTCT or NVQ which are the nationally recognised qualifications, I don't think it will be....you could try ringing some of the insurers to see if they accept this qualification as you will need insurance if you are thinking of going mobile.

I can't see what harm there would be, in phoning a couple of salons. Ask them if you complete this course, would they be willing to employ you (in theory) if the majority say, no, never heard of it, then I would maybe think twice!

Have a read of Sassy's tutorial on training, it may point you in the right direction. It was a huge help to me.......http://www.salongeek.com/training/2...-i-choose.html?highlight=Sassy+Hassy+training

I copied this from the elearnuk website. The qualification entitles you to join 'The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists'. It says 'The Guild’s insurance cover is tailor made for Beauty Therapists and Salon Owners. Full membership of the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists automatically covers you for Treatment, Public and Product Liability cover (£2 million)'.
So I thought from the start of my course I would have insurance?!

It sounds like you need to join the Guild before you are insured....give The Guild a call, they'll be able to confirm that the course is recognised by them for insurance etc.

Cheers, I will do that. I just wondered if any of you were qualified with this qualification??
Heather

I am currently studying for the same course with Stonebridge and have just finished my first assignment.

I was going to do this course a few months ago but chose to do the Essential Nails course instead as it gives alot more practical training. It would be ideal to do a 121course but that isnt suitable for me at the moment. I done loads of searching on this forum before making my choice. HTHs.x

hii, i'm doing this course, & read up on it throughly, it is a recognized NVQ x

oh my god! just read this thread,i am nearly at the end of this course and want to gomobile - i have plenty of experience but will i not be able to get insurance???
