Hi all new here I'm Vicki, restarted back at beauty and nails after 10 years away from the industry due to the need to be able to work around kids etc... long story.
Anyhooo
Just wondering what you use to photograph clients finished nails apart from the usual cuticle oil bottle or the dreaded claw haha.
Thanks in advance

Nail mats are quite popular you can get glittery ones or plain, even ones with your business name. Could also look in to buying a "Nail Dome", which is a solid glass paperweight with your company name/logo/branding in for taking pictures which turn out very similar to holding the cuticle oil bottle x

The Nail Dome or something similar is a great idea as it makes it more difficult to steal the photograph if the subject is holding something with your business name/logo on it.

There's nothing worse than putting lots of effort into setting up a new business and getting yourself out there on social media for someone local to sneakily come along, grab your pictures and pass off the work as theirs.

Nail mats .. (angel glitter mats on facebook) great company! X

I take pictures against my towels, with their hands resting over my nail pillo. I really do need to start water marking my images though!

I'd recommend using a few different poses and making sure that yoir lighting is spot on - dark, grainy images don't really cut it anymore :)

Thanks everyone. I'll have a look at nail domes.

I went to hobby craft and bought a variety of different felt a4 sheets which are perfect for using as a background for photos! And because I can roll them all up together they take hardly any room. It's interesting how using a different background affects the art- I use a black glittery one for nails with a white or light background and a white glittery one for dark nails; it really helps them "pop"! X

Never even thought of that I'll have to have a look thanks ;)

I use a laminated sheet.. one with a white background, the other black. I always take a picture of the nails on both cards, it's surprising how different they can look depending on the colour behind.

I use the back of my dust extractor and i like this pose, i also use a selfie light attached to my fone to help with the lighting. I will eventually invest in some glitter mats and domes

I find the cheapest and easiest is to use something you already have, business card does the trick.

I just use my little arm pillow but then I use an app to put watermarks on it. :)

Sweet Squared do an amazing course called "access all areas" , I've recently done some training to help me teach this course and my photos are soooo much better, I've taken all of these just in my iphone!

I recently bought a £7 selfie light from eBay and the difference in my pics is amazing.
All the detail is now clear and there was a noticeable reaction on social media to the pics.

I love this hand pose!
I also made my mat myself. Just printed and laminated it xxx
