Old dog learning new tricks!
Hi everyone,
I am new here but keen to get any advice I can and learn as much as possible.
I've just started a hairdressing course (Cert 2 in Hairdressing). I am not sure how the UK quals run but I'm told they're parallel to Australia's and that I'm studying the equivalent to an NVQ 2 course?
No cutting involved, just a few business units, an industry knowledge unit, massage (scalp and shoulders), washing hair, colouring hair, braiding hair and then you can go onto a Cert III if you like (which is your trade qual). These days, you can either get an apprenticeship afterward for two years or you can continue on campus and then do one year in a salon before you are trade qualified. As someone with small children, I'm not sure which direction I'm going to go in yet.
For those of you who've been in the game for a while, what sort of advice would you offer a newbie like me in terms of what skills to focus on, career projectories to follow, people to admire etc?
Thanks!
