Hi,

I am CND trained in shellac and do my own. However on my right hand I've started getting white marks which don't seem to shift. Any ideas?

Often this can be caused by trauma to the plate (usually during removal). Depending on removal method, the plate will swell and absorb solvent and dehydrate the nail. The plate is in a state very easy to damage at that time. Scraping on the nail then cause more damage then normal.

If the white spots disappears or diminish over time, it is generally a result of just the dehydration from removal. Otherwise its as above.

Hope that makes sense!

How do I fix this? Will solar oil help? Should I go. With no shellac for a week or so?

Its leukonychia. Its mostly caused by trauma to the matrix but in some cases be due to liver and kidney illness.
No treatment will get rid of, it has to grow out of the nail.
