Hello!

I've been blonde for about 2 years now but for the past 6 months when my hairdresser does my hair it goes blonde and then within one wash goes bright orange/yellow. Used blondor bleach with capital peroxide and L'Oréal toners but nothing works! Another hair dresser said it could be something to do with needing a protein treatment. Could anyone advise me on what to do as I now have a weave that's blonde and orange natural hair.. thanks x

Toners should last a couple of weeks or so but they're not permanent. After lightening your hair, your hairdresser has applied a toner which has now washed out, leaving the orange/yellow 'raw' hair colour.

I'm guessing that your hair has become quite damaged from the bleach (possibly overlapping the bleach?) and is now a bit like a sieve allowing the molecules from the toner to be rinsed away when you shampoo it.

Is your hairdresser using blondor with capital own brand developer? In that case, I'm not surprised it's not holding the colour!

If you want to have natural healthy looking blonde hair, you have to be prepared for the upkeep by using salon quality products between salon visits. (sodium & sulphate free shampoo). The detergents in ordinary shampoos are much harsher and contribute to the damage.

Olaplex will repair the broken bonds within the hair (forget the other dupe 'plex' products as they are just conditioning products) but if the cuticle layer is damaged, nothing can repair it and you'll have to cut/grow out the damage.

You could try using a salon quality purple shampoo which might help tone the yellow a bit.

Thanks for your reply. I don't understand why my "raw" colour is now orange/yellow.. would that be due to damage? As my hair has always been a bright healthy colour.

I actually work at capital hair and beauty so all products used on my hair are of salon quality in between hair dresser visits.

I use L'Oréal silver shampoo however not helping with the brassness.. I just don't want to keep going to the hair dressers to get it bleached up if it's going to do more damage! I'll give opalex a try :)

Can't bare to go brown again but I might have to :(

When I say 'Raw colour', that's what it looks like after bleaching because bleach is removing all the natural tones. After bleaching, you have to add colour to tone.

It's like exfoliating your face. You'd still need to apply make up afterwards to look human again, otherwise, your skin just looks blotchy and scrubbed (raw).

Your hairdresser should be only bleaching the virgin hair each time, otherwise, reapplying bleach to already lightened hair will lead to serious cuticle damage. Once the cuticle's damaged, nothing can repair it and the only option is to cut it.

Oops! I see what you mean now. I still have a good 3/4 months before considering taking my extensions out so I suppose I'm just going to have to get it gradually cut out Would going dark help this at all? Considering finding a colour specialist in my area as my hair has never been in a bad condition before so I'm not used to it
