Dragon nail tip: I made this tip with foils, TT acrylics, and a sculpted dragon. I made the dragon from black polymer clay and baked it over a brass rod to get the curve right. Then I glued it to the finished nail. The only thing I would do different next time would be to antique the dragon before I put it on the nail, because I had a heck of a time getting the antiquing off the nail around the body of the dragon. This nail is a size 1.
Experiment #2 with the raw leopard cane... this time I think it's much better. Cured the clay before layering the acrylic over it. I like it! Really opens the door for using larger canes that would be very awkward to do in cured form.
This one has a Pearl-Ex mixed with acrylic layer and the floral / hummingbird nail art canes over the top. I wish I'd chosen a different hummer slice though, this one was a bit too thick and you can see the halo.
Well I'd done another fruit nail tip the other day and ended up ruining it; so did this one today. Like it alot better than the previous one~ My favorite fruit in here is Beth's cantaloupe. Love the detail in that one.
Caution: experiment ahead! Ignore the smile line on this one... I was planning on putting some tiger design in there, so this nail isn't finished yet. I've been experimenting with different ways to embed the cane slices. This one is from my leopard cane, a big slice that I baked over a form before gluing onto the nail. But I understand from some of my Puerto Rican customers that you can use the cane slices while raw? I haven't tried that yet. This one worked pretty well overall, and I was looking for ways to give techs options for using the canes. This nail is a size 1 and the slice of leopard cane I started with was 1 inch wide.
Roses are some of my favorite flowers. This nail tip I used my dark red rose and pink rosebud designs on. The rosebud is going to be my next cane tutorial. It's a pretty easy design overall, and I think it could be a good beginner cane for people who wanted to give a try at making canes.
