    Colouring over highlights

Thanks! Just for my own personal knowledge, why isn’t it necessary to pre pig? Is it because the warmth in the /71 or /0 is enough to color over subtle highlights, kind of as if they were whites? I assume if I did just 100% ash like 7/89 they would turn out not very nice right? Second...

    Colouring over highlights

A client has decided she doesn’t want her level 8 highlights anymore for her next appointment. She wants them blended in. The weren’t subtle enough for her. She has short hair. natural color is 6 with 30% gray. I want to stick with color touch. She wants to be a level 6.5 all over, not warm...

Scalp bleach to balayage + Wella Color Touch Plus

What is the rule for when you have to fill when going darker? How many shades of depth darker do you need to go in order to have to fill first? Is it 3?

Adding a neutral to Color Touch

I’m still fairly new to Wella. Just a couple general questions: If you are colouring using Color Touch on virgin hair, would you use less ashy colours than you would with Kolesten Perfect? Since KP is used with higher developers that lift more, so more ash would be required to neutralize the...

    Wella Color Touch question

Thank you. What is the difference between 7/89 and 7/86? In some photos I saw online the /86 appeared darker. In the wella swatch it looks darker too. Is there anything to this? Also curious if /89 is a little ashier since 9 has blue and violet?

    Color Touch ashy options

I’m trying to clarify in my head when to use /68 vs /88. is It fair to say that /68 is more to neutralize lighter, yellow-orange tones, while /88 is more for darker, brassy orange tones? I see a lack of /2 tones in the color touch range. Is there an effective way to tone down red tones in...

    Color Touch ashy options

One more question, is the /68 special mix helpful for brassy, orangey level 7.5 hair? Or it it mostly just for toning lighter blondes in the 8-10 range, and I should be using the /88 instead?

    Wella Color Touch question

Thanks! I tried the regular CT on a male client and he really likes it. It didn’t cover all the gray but almost. I left it for 20 min. Maybe I’ll leave it on for 5 minutes longer next time or apply to dry hair next time. I would have used the CT Plus but there aren’t as many color options...

    Wella Color Touch question

When using color touch on someone with 30% gray, should I use the 1.9 or the 4 developer? Will I still get SOME coverage with the 1.9 at least? Also, can I still get at least 15 washes out of CT no matter which developer I choose? I’m curious in particular how long the 1.9 allows the color to...

    Color Touch as a toner

it’s a busy downtown salon and the male clients especially have certain expectations to not be in the chair too long so I just wanted to be as efficient as possible while not compromising results. And to be honest I’ve had highlights myself and I don’t remember having the foils in for that long...

    Color Touch as a toner

Thank! Would you suggest using half 10/0 or is a quarter 10/0 sufficient? Do you think lifting from 6 to 10 in 30 minutes with 20 vol is unrealistic? Since it’s short hair is 30vol better since it gets cut so often anyway, so damage is less of a concern?

    Color Touch as a toner

Thank you. We are starting at a level 6 and using blondor and 20 vol so I don’t think it should be a problem getting to level 9 or 10? Planning to leave the beach on for 30-35 minutes. Here is an idea of the client’s goal. Subtle ashy blonde highlights. Curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

    Color Touch as a toner

Thank you. Any formula suggestions for highlights that will be ashy but not overboard? Definitely don’t want them to be violet or silver or blue, just a very ashy blonde. I was thinking of maybe mixing in 1 part 10/0 with 1 part 9/16. Curious to hear any other ideas. Thanks!

    Color Touch as a toner

The client has a level 6 base which has been colored with KP level 6/2 to cover the whites. They now want highlights. If I’m toning light blonde bleached highlights on them with a color touch 10/6 and a 9/16 mixture, and the 1.9% developer, will this demi-permanent “toner” affect the base around...

    Blondor permanent liquid toner question

I find it interesting that this product is to be mixed with 20 vol OR 6 vol developer. There is obviously a huge difference between those, 20 vol being way stronger and potentially harsher on hair that has presumably just been bleached, so I wouldn’t 6 vol be a better choice? Can someone...

Blondor bleach extra cool vs Blondor bleach

Thanks. Do you think that 25-30 minutes with the 20 vol and bleach should be enough time to go from a level 6 to a level 9 for the highlights?

    Best toners for highlights (Wella)

What are the best toners? I’m curious if you guys prefer toning highlights with 1) wella color charm 2) color touch, or 3) blondor permanent liquid toners? Any pros and cons of each? Which are most popular for highlights in particular?

Blondor bleach extra cool vs Blondor bleach

I’ll be doing highlights on a male client in his 20s and he wants them light blonde and ashy. He is a level 6 and I will he doing subtle highlights for a beachy summer look. His hair has been previously colored but he is a natural 6 and his current color is about a 6. I want to prelighten to a...

    10 vol KP

I’ll think I’ll give it a shot on one of my clients. I’m curious if they will prefer it over the Kolesten perfect they have been using. What they have right now looks a little too dense for a man and with short hair it won’t be hard to switch things up. Do you apply the above mixture for 20...

    10 vol KP

Do you guys have any recommendations about color touch plus options for a level 6 man who doesn’t want to go much darker or too warm? I read somewhere that it can turn out darker than expected because of the double pigment so should I use a level 7 on them to be safe? What Colour touch plus...
