How are you getting on with wearing visors?

I’ve just been told by a client who has to wear face masks with clear windows as her son is deaf so needs to see the mouth. The Deafness society tell them to rub liquid soap into the inside of the mask/shield then buff it in with a dry tissue and that prevents it misting. I’ve just done mine so...

How are you getting on with wearing visors?

I’ve worn mine and finding when I have a large booking, full leg, under arm, Hollywood wax in one sitting that my visor starts to mist up slightly. I work in a medium sized room with air con and still I have to adjust it now and then to let the air demist it. How are you all getting on?

They are close to the face. No big gap overhang at the bottom or top.

I couldn’t get the link to appear on my phone for some reason but here’s a photo. I found them very easy to remove the adhesive on both sides. One side is clear and you think there’s no film to come off but there is. Just score it with a sharp knife. I found them good. I wore it fir half an hour...

I git mine on Amazon. A pack of 12 I think. They sit close to the forehead. Comfortable enough. I only had it on half an hour though to see if it would steam up. It didn’t.

Even the experts have different opinions so I think you have to do what feels right for you and read all the guidelines etc.

That’s correct. The Guild day no to all facials, eyebrow tints, make up (except lessons) and false lashes.

It does. But the Guild have made no mention of any of that. They have said irrespective of the number of clients. Just it’s not safe. Fortunately I do very few eyebrows and lips. I specialise is intimate waxing but do all the body and massage. I don’t do facials. Lash technicians and make up...

Correct. We are encouraged not too because the nhs etc need them. So our only option is visors and masks and gloves.

And no eye lashes. So no work at all for eyelash technicians. Dentists can go inside mouths with appropriate ppe so I can’t see why eyelash technicians can’t work with appropriate ppe. And as you say, the client too over their mouth.

I’ve just read the guidelines from the Guild. Somehow they believe eyelash tint which takes much longer than an eyebrow tint is ok to do but an eyebrow tint isn’t??? Work that one out. The government guidelines say the high risk area is in front of the face to face area. I work from behind the...

Being mobile you are bound to feel more wary. I work from home and it does go a long way when you feel in total control of the environment.

If you are wearing a visor then you are protected seems to be what’s being said. I thought it was the WHO who were against masks? I can understand wearing them rather than nothing but if you are wearing a visor then all should be good. At the end of the day we each have to do what feels right...

You should do what makes you feel comfortable though. Clients can wear them obviously if they prefer too as well.

Your visor would protect you. Their mask would have no effect, apparently.

Actually, on reading it again, I think we are always required to wear a visor. Not a face covering. Clients don’t need to wear anything.

I mostly do waxing. Facial waxing, eyelash and brow tints, mani, pedi. Nothing prolonged on the face. I always wear gloves and do have visits and masks and anti bac gel, paper tissue for hands etc. Basically it’s the washing of hands that’s being reinforced. I now can’t find the government...
