Pillow cases getting covered in oil!

Thanks for your advice guys. We use towels to cover the pillows but it still seems to get through. Perhaps we need to invest in thicker towels!

Pillow cases getting covered in oil!

Hi guys and girls, bit of a random one so not sure I'll get much response. We get a lot of massage booked in and use pillows during the treatment to support various areas of the body, unfortunately they are getting saturated and stained with oil. No matter what colour we buy, how much couch...

Legal requirement to patch test wax 24 hours before an appointment?

Hi there, A salon in my local area has recently started doing patch tests for all waxing treatments at least 24 hours before the client's first treatment with them, just like we all have to with tinting, lash lifts, and eyelash extensions now. Is this something anyone else does? To my...

    High Definition new fluid foundation

Is anyone else as annoyed about the new fluid foundation as I am? It's completely different to the original one and the colours don't match up either. I've always sworn by it for its mattifying really good coverage, the new version is so oily and transparent in comparison. I've always used 002...

Best time to start a business?

It depends what you want... If you want to get settled and into the swing of things before a big rush (like Grace_Hair said) then go for slightly before summer or a couple of months before Christmas. However if you open in the middle of summer or end of November, you're sure to get clients in...

    CND Spa collection

Hi all! Loving the new spa range from CND, however the design of the big containers is a bit tricky to use. How are you all decanting the hand lotion to use on clients? The bottle is too big to keep on the stations, it's to thick to pour into smaller containers, and too thick to easily pump into...

How long do you have to practice a treatment in order to become a trainer in that treatment?

I couldn't agree more. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way! Xx

How long do you have to practice a treatment in order to become a trainer in that treatment?

Thanks for your advice! I'm not looking to become a trainer myself, it's in reference to someone who is a "trainer" but I'm aware they've hardly any experience. Which worries me. And I'd be amazed if she was insured correctly. For example, it can't be right to train in something for the first...

How long do you have to practice a treatment in order to become a trainer in that treatment?

Sorry, I was a bit vague! For example, eyelash extensions and microblading. Do you have to have a lot of experience in those treatments in order to teach them too and to get suitable insurance? Xx

How long do you have to practice a treatment in order to become a trainer in that treatment?

As it says in the topic! Would also like to know what kind of insurance has to be in place in order to train as well as practice treatments, and if there are certain requirements that have to be met in order to gain such insurance. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks geeks xx

    Shellac timings

CND say you have to do the cuticle work in order for it to be a proper CND Shellac manicure. They don't allow you to do just file and polish because the nail needs the prep work, and as a premium brand they maintain the integrity of the industry by insuring clients get a full and proper service...

    New Shellac! Aurora looks fab

Looks like a gorgeous collection! Will be interesting to see if the two pink shades are much different to the other pale pinks they have out! At a first glance, Blush Teddy and Strawberry Smoothie look very similar xxx

    Disclaimers

Id be surprised if any tint didn't need a patch test! Although I haven't heard of Marvel. Disclaimers mean nothing in court unfortunately, they need to have a patch test at least 24 hours before their tinting treatment. And most importantly, before you do the treatment they need to sign a form...

Do I have to work evenings and weekends?

Generally in the beauty industry, evenings and weekends are when people book - as that's when people are free! Going mobile and self employed, you can "choose your own hours" to an extent. But in order to be successful and reliable, and if you're starting out, you need to just do whatever time...

More skincare brands swallowed up by huge corporations

I really hope, and doubt, that a very trusted and passionate brand like Dermalogica, would compromise the quality and integrity of their products and personality. It would break my little skincare heart! Xx

Thoughts and policies for children/no children in the salon?

Ah yes! Food mess and smells are other things I've experienced in the salon with children around [emoji23] interesting to hear your views, thank you! Xx

Thoughts and policies for children/no children in the salon?

For those working in beauty salons, what are your policies, if any, for children being in the salon? Quite a few don't allow children, and others do. I work in a salon where children and babies are welcome, but a number of times it has disrupted the treatment I'm trying to do. To list a few...

    Feeling deflated

I agree with everyone else. This isn't about beauty, this is about your partner. If my other half, who I live with, was dictating how and when I work I'd laugh in his face! Be your own boss, he shouldn't be deciding all these things for you! You're really busy, so that shows you're obviously...

Clients struggling with new CND LED lamp

Can't say I've had a problem with the new lamp. I'm finding clients'nails aren't knocking or smudging because they can actually see where they're putting their hands now - the UV lamp you couldn't see inside as well. The cable doesn't fall out of mine when moved, maybe I'm just lucky! Xxx
