Oh absolutely, which is why I'm on looking for advice. I did edit my comment to say, more often than not he uses just a little wash mit/face cloth etc to wash. I have been monitoring this for the last 6 months. He is getting hormonal, growing a lot and his skin has become this way. I want to nip...

Please don't patronize me. I am a Highly qualified and highly experienced therapist asking for advice. I am not "stripping" his skin. He washes his face morning and night while brushing his teeth with a baby/child wash and that's it. (More often than not, just a wash mit)Nothing else. So do me a...

How to deal with dry cuticle/skin around the nail

For an ordinary polish, you just drop the oil with your dropper on to cuticle area and leave it to do its thing, or you can rub it around without touching the nails

    Gel polish problems, help!

Hi all, Since reopening after lockdown, at least 50% of my clients are not getting the full time out of their gel polish (manicure company). Obviously I was expecting the extra hand washing and over use of sanitiser to affect them to a certain extent but even some clients that would have been...

    Training centre question

Hi all, So, I am a very experienced Beauty Therapist (& salon owner) and also a qualified tutor. I've decided to take the plunge and start running training course for myself. I am just sitting down to do some pricing. This is going to sound a bit silly, but you know for student kits, do you...

    Do hand sanitisers cause lifting?

I've just been telling our clients that we are unsure if the extreme use of sanitiser will affect their nails lasting, so not to be afraid to give us a call if any problems that they wouldnt usually have

    Do hand sanitisers cause lifting?

I'd say it's possible alright. I know before lockdown we did not have any problems with it, but now with their being so many cheap/substandard hand sanitiser products being sold or even on entering different premises, I'd say it could affect them. That's just my opinion

Salon owners re-opening - what steps to take?

I plan on stocking up on them so I can provide them. But I will be posting on social media about the changes I am implementing and saying that please bring a face mask. But to be honest, I'd rather know that it's a clear unused mask by supplying them because I know some people are using the the...

Salon owners re-opening - what steps to take?

Hi all, I just thought it might be helpful and make it seem less daunting if we had a thread about what changes You're making to your salon/salon layout etc in preparation for reopening. So I'm an Irish Beauty Salon, supposed to be reopening as part of Phase 4 of a "road map" to reopen the...

    Refusing to treat somebody

Thank you all for your replies, really appreciate you taking the time! Unfortunately this person is coming in to the salon to enquire, not over the phone or text and they are very persistent ‍♀️ I'm hoping I put her off coming back by saying I'm fully booked for x amount of weeks but who knows...

    Refusing to treat somebody

Thank you for your reply. I was planning on saying that basically with everything going on I didnt feel it was the right salon for her as it was basically a conflict of interest. Surely if a client makes you feel uncomfortable you have the right to refuse them though. A lot of businesses have...

    Refusing to treat somebody

Hi, Looking for advice from a legal point of view. (I'm a salon owner) Can I refuse to treat somebody without being threatened with discrimination etc? It is nothing to do with the person's nationality, race, ethnic background or anything like that before anybody jumps to the wrong conclusion...

    Annoyed with eyelashes

So I've only recently started doing Hollywood lashes and they've been going great...until today. I could not get to the very outside or v inside of my clients eyelashes, v twitchy eyes and subconsciously squeezed her eyes when I touched the inside/outside causing her eyelashes to go in. Is...
