I agree, mist with water and apply the #2, it's great to do to all the hair hanging out of foils, do it all the time!

    Olaplex alternative?

Sounds like the hair was previously over processed in which case nothing, not even Olaplex could help it. Olaplex is a tool, it helps the stylist protect the hair, but not all hair should have chemical services. I have no idea what this is saying as I do not speak her language. If you don't like...

    Olaplex question

I agree with everyone's comments, she needs to keep using the #3 at home as her homework once a week, and then for the outer part of the hair, I like the use Redken Extreme Mask, it has 3 things that help with the "feel" of the hair, protein (this type is plant & grain based so it can't build...

    Hair loss

As a Trichologist, we recommend certain vitamins & supplements like Biotin, B-Complex, Zinc and Magnesium, these need to be taken after a meal. I agree she needs blood work for thyroid, hormone levels and her DHT levels. We all are in a shedding period right now, and we shed twice a year...

    Olaplex

Olaplex is awesome for helping to repair the broken disulfide bonds of the hair that get damaged with peroxide is used, but I agree that if the hair is very damaged right now, do some stand along Olaplex treatment and some Protein treatment after rinsing & shampooing off the #2, this way you are...

How long do you keep half-used tubes?

Once a color tube is opened you need to use it within 2 years, the first inch or so might turn darker just dump that out as it's oxidized. Unopened tubes last 5 years. I keep tubes in the box and put the box on top, that way the stylists needs to use the top one first which help curb waste.

    Standalone Olaplex

Yes, shampoo and towel dry, it will be easier to apply the #1 Olaplex to the hair, I like to put a neutralizer bib on and funnel the Olaplex into a bowl, re-fill the bottle I used to apply the Olaplex and I keep doing that until the 5 minutes are up, then I apply the #2 right over the #1 for 10...
