    Medium strength service options?

Hi all. I offer Gel Polish (Exclusively Gelish) and Acrylic Services. A lot of my clientele I'm doing a Structure Gel Manicure for that little bit of extra added strength. But I'm finding I have a bit of a gap in my services strength wise. I need suggestions of something stronger than a...

    Client said nails all broke?

I also notice from your photos that it's her free edge end that is chipping first. How are you capping the nails? You may be creating a bulge of polish at the tip that is not curing properly? Just a thought.

    Fitting nail forms?

There's lots of ways to customise forms when and where needed to get a snug fit under different shaped nails, fingers. This video has a few common ways that may help :)

Complaint from tenant in flat above salon

Place a lid on your monomer dish as soon as you're finished applying and until you have time to dispose and clean dish out properly. Place your used brush wipe in a bagged, lidded container (rather than just having it sitting in an open bin that is only emptied at end of day) Get a lid for your...

    Gloves?

Have always used Nitrile in salon. (Some clients may have latex allergies so Nitrile is best option) The blue ones do wear through at the tips with exposure to acetone. I swapped to the black nitrile gloves - the ones tattoo artists use! they're great and that little bit thicker :)

    Tapered square acrylic

I have some clients who love the classic, square acrylic shape - even at medium long lengths (which I personally think looks quite blocky). A tutor told me that all shapes, even square should have a slight taper to them to allow them to look slender and grow out nicely. And of course polish can...

    Polygel help please

As above, it's not in the brands recommended steps but a gentle wipe over with acetone before polish application helps :)

    That age old lifting issue!

Um, no one has mentioned RATIO???!!! if your prep is ace - and you're not touching the skin, I'll bet money it's your ratio :)

Gel polish for clients who are rough with their hands

Gelish Structure Gel is LIFE! Apply a coat of this over your colour and before top coat.

    Hand painted nail art

I can't really see what's wrong with your lines! You've done great! Only thing I would suggest is making your lines more 'instragram' (I'm guessing thats the standard you're holding yourself to!?) by trimming your brush more. It's rare a brush is perfect straight from the packet :) and use more...

    Gelish 18g lamp?

I always tell first time clients to place their hand in until the middle knuckle of their thumb.

Foils & chrome powders with Gelish

Gelish has a great inhibition layer so you'll find almost any foils work!

To invest in normal nail polish or not

Is it just yourself in your salon? Unless you are specializing in classic manicures and you have a returning clientele requesting it - I wouldn't bother. It's hard to have every colour option in essentially a whole new range to keep everyone happy if you won't get many people wanting it...

    Foil striping tape peeling?

It's probably more to do with not sealing or encapsulating the foil ends properly. They usually peel if a slight edge is poking out from your top coat. Apply your foils (not touching the sticky part at any time as it transfers oils and prevents it from sticking), cut the tape JUST short of the...

    Gelish chipping

Your steps seem to be correct. But a couple of other factors to consider maybe.... When you are capping, are you doing this thinly, or are you creating a slight bulge at the free edge? - this can cause chipping. Also hand placement in the lamp. If the client is pushing their hands too far into...

How to prevent gel polish from lifting by cuticle

Either application - ie; polish touching skin OR most likely, it's down to your prep. If dead cuticle is not thoroughly removed from the nail plate, your gel polish is not able to fully adhere to the natural nail. What are your prep steps?

    Pedicure failure

Hey there! Gelish shrinking is usually caused by two factors - foundation layer too thick and/or not dry brushing after it's cure OR, the colour has separated in the bottle prior to use and needed a gentle mix before hand.

If you're using Gelish product - it's worth the money ;)

    Hand placement in Gelish lamp?

I tell my clients to slide their hand in up to the middle knuckle of their thumb. I do find there is a 'dead space' at the back of the lamp and clients experience chipping if they always stick their hand in too far.
