    Disheartened about very few clients

Hi. How's it going now closer to Christmas? I have a salon with a beauty room and we do a lot of promotions for them as I feel it does serve our customers well to have a quality service available. I cross-post on Social and send emails. She does her own thing too but got booked very quickly...

I have a website with lots of blogs that deal with all the facebook questions for salon owners. its a great resource. Plus a page and a group where...

    Cancellation policy - advice

Yes, we have one and it's on our website. For us, it is more like stating a claim to help people see that they cannot just cancel last minute. We also take a booking fee for some appointments. This said when a regular customer has to change and it's not a regular thing we don't charge it. In...

Knowing when to dismiss an employee?

Of course they are entitled to do what they want! However my point is when you take someone on and put it in the general part of the contract about appearance and the fact whether you give complimentary services to your staff and the conditions around that, this should be discussed and agreed...

    Website or social media

Agree about FB plus it drives traffic to your website VERY well so important to have that component. But that said when I am researching a business to use and I think their website is not up to scratch...I'm not inclined to use them. I think a business that has its digital marketing well...

    Need business/marketing advice

I believe in building quality customers and a values driven team. My current business took a year or 2 to feel reliably secure and it depended on my input a lot in the beginning. I worked very hard on marketing and learning skills to reach my ideal customers without discounts and deals. I...

    Facebook page reviewing edits

Dont delete it!! How long you have had your page means a lot on FB. You could reach out to FB and ask what's up. Have you had any luck in stabilising it? I would take a look for you but I'd need to have your page ID.

Knowing when to dismiss an employee?

Also anyone that drains you that much is not good for you. I'd put her on a program for 4 weeks to see if you can shape her up and work together to get her performance up. Good team members are worth working with but your headspace is important to the businesses success I think. Good luck.

Knowing when to dismiss an employee?

I don't want my team wearing beauty or hair done from another salon. It's branding 101 to have your team wearing your work!! We go to other salons and have a blowdry or such done to get a feel for how other salons work but that's all. I think you do have the right to get this in your contracts.

    Website or social media

I get so much business from my website so I would recommend it for sure. If you see it like your online home that you control, it helps put it into perspective with the work and time that is involved. It makes social advertising so much more effective too. Being able to target better more...

    Need business/marketing advice

Do you advertise on facebook? It's such a great thing to learn a few tips so you can get yourself out in front of people in your area. Also, a website that is optimised. I have built a salon up from nothing and Facebook marketing has been the best tool for me.

    New business advice

Great customer service can set you apart from the competition. Think of all the lovely value add-ons you can have that don't cost a lot but help create a feeling of being cared for. Plan out your customer journey from the first time they see your marketing right through the salon experience and...

    Facebook business page problems

We work really hard on engagement to keep our posts being seen. Using the business manager is a good idea as it signals to Facebook that you are operating as a business. I feel they run on a system that builds recognition for your page with all the components playing a role. Your payment...
