    Virgin Media VIP

For those who already have cable this maybe known to them, but Virgin have teamed (taken over) NTL: Telewest. As part of this they are restructuring their pricing and packages. One of the new ones is the VIP (Very Impressive Package) due to be officially launched tomorrow. With this you get:-...

    driving tax

Now I'll probably get jumped on here, but I'll gladly pay this tax if it means that even half the illegal cars on the road are removed. There are more advantages to this that I can see then there are disadvantages. That said, its just typical of this Labour government to want to fleece the...

    Disaster!

Luckily my wedding ring is silver so just popped it in a little dish with some acetone. Must admit it looks nice and shiny now, but dread to think what it might have looked like if it had been anything other then sterling silver.

    Disaster!

First time its happened but I had an accident with the nail glue while doing a clients nails today. Taking the lid off (brush-on glue) it decided to do a triple flip out of my hand and send glue all over my own hand. Luckily none of it went onto the clients table, but I ended up with my...

    Acetone waste..

I use the kitchen roll method as well, though as a mobile tech I normally have a carrier bag with me which I use for all the rubbish. On getting home it goes straight into the big bucket ready for the binmen.

    What makes you angry?

A little afraid now to post, being a man an all :) Though I have agree with a lot of what you ladies are saying, living with my wife and 2 daughters I was trained early on to putting the seat down afterwards, I do most of the housework (including emptying bins) so I hope my wife can't have any...

Why Do Some People Never Learn!!!!!

Had a similar thing last night, boy racer passing on the outside of two cars (one being mine) on the opposite side of the road. Luckily a taxi held him up as he tried to pull in (cutting up the car beside me) or I think he would have raced onto the roundabout up ahead and take someone out. The...

Anyone having problems with the cat and the Xmas tree??

We have 2 9 month old kittens, first christmas and the lure of the tree is so tempting.......until they get a dose of the spray bottle. For those that have a poundland store nearby they have metallic spray bottles which is what we use. Cats dare not go near the tree now for fear of getting...

when is the next lost episode on sky one? please

Most of the US imports on Sky will be on a break for Christmas, most notably SG-1, Atlantis and Lost. Most should return in January along with a whole host of new shows like 24, Battlestar Galactica and Prison Break (Ch 5). Check out Digital Spy for more info on shows both in the US and the UK.

    Tornado

The wife told me this earlier today/yesterday (after midnight) thought she was on a wind up, but remembered there was a tornado a few monhs back in the south west of england (Edit - was in Birmingham in July). So tornado's in England, gale to hurricane force winds in Scotland - and the Bush...

Is there still a stigma attached to age gap relationships?

I can say that there are some who will look askance at it, but that is their problem not yours. If your happy then go for it, it is your happiness that matters not other people's. If it is any consolation, there is a 10 year gap between my wife and I.

    Allergies

You have my sympathies Garfield and I agree it is a nightmare even with just egg or nut allergies, I think your family would test even my cooking skills to the limits. What gets me is that supermarkets seem to cater more for the gluten free or (Atkins) carb people then they do for any other...

The Official .X Factor thread !!!

I think all of them with perhaps the exception of the Unconventionals (out week 1) all of them should have some sort of career after X-Factor. I think its a given that anyone reaching the live shows will be snapped up by some outfit or person. If you look at last year both Andy and Shane have...

    football proud..

Could do with him for my local football team, they are currently in a slump....either that or they are getting the stuffing ready for Christmas. I hope he makes it can be tough getting the recognition, but I hope he realises his dreams.

The Official .X Factor thread !!!

Can't say I am surprised at the result, but won't have any reason to watch it now. Ok so Leona the Moaner tries an R&B version of Barry Manilow, like that was a hard song for her. As for the Plastic Princess Diva, there is just something false about her. She comes across as this shy, coy and...

    Allergies

Just thought I would add something else, for those allergic to eggs there is a company called Granovita who make an egg & dairy free mayonnaise. I get mine from Asda in the gluten free sections, but I have seen it in Safeway (before the Morrisons take over) as well. For those suffering from...

    Renting a table illegal??

Depending on the lease agreement the salon owner has, it could well be illegal to sub-let space within the property. Something less likely, but a possible obstacle, is the buildings insurance aspect which could preclude them renting space without proper H&S measures. I say less likely as most...

    Allergies

It's not something I would have thought about before, but its annoying and amazing at times how many things people can't have who are allergic to eggs. Cakes, some types of breads (croissant, bagels), batter/breaded (chip shops) or even pies that have been brushed with eggs. On the cake...

    Allergies

Prompted by the Chinese cooking thread, I just wanted to know if there are any others who have or a family member has allergies to food types. Also do you think people with allergies are catered for adequately by places like restaruants and take away's? Both my twin  daughters are...

    The Chinese Cooking Thread

The tip about the rice is handy to know, though I make fried rice for the family occasionally and never had sticky/soggy rice. I think the main thing is that I rinse in cold water (stops it cooking/overcooking) and leave to drain for as long as possible - between 10 - 20 minutes. Will look...
