Shellac Cake Pop - peeling, chipping and 'soft' at free edges?

Ahhh, yes I think it must be that I'm applying it slightly too thick to compensate for the streaky application it can give. I will try three very thin coats instead, at the moment I'm just doing the usual 2. It's so embarrassing when a client comes in 4 days later with peeling and chipping...

Shellac Cake Pop - peeling, chipping and 'soft' at free edges?

I have been using Shellac for ages, and it doesn't budge on my own nails, nor on my clients - it stays perfect for weeks. I've never experienced any problems really except for when using Cake Pop - which seems to go a bit 'soft', peels off and breaks down at the free edge? My clients seem to...

    Shellac timings!

I'm taking ages too! I can do full set of acrylics faster which seems bizzare?!! I'm so careful to get it neat and tidy that it takes blooming forever.....and if they want a design.....well!! I may as well book out the rest of the day!! Losing my confidence!

    What is your salon Facebook?

Hey ladies, I can't seem to get to grips with my facebook page! Driving me mad, keep inviting all my facebook friends, but it doesn't seem to work. (Well, either that or NONE of my friends want to like my page!!) Would be great if you could head over and like it...

Stressed about a picture of nails I've done

Awwww big hugs, and well done for keeping your cool and being professional in an awkward, uncomfortable situation. I was also feeling down last night as I've done two sets this week that I wasn't happy with. I've been exhausted due to running out of my medication, and not having it for a...

    Brisa Lite pictures

I had a little play with the Brisa Lite sculpting gel today, over clear tips. I haven't done a set of nails for about 3 years....so took a bit of getting used to! I'm so thrilled about this product....I'm traditionally a L&P tech, but I can't bear the smell of it since having my second child...

    How to succeed in nails

Such a fab, encouraging post!! :-) You covered this already, but I think it's soooooo important to remember to: BE PATIENT!!! It takes a long time to build up a loyal clientèle. Don't get hung up on desperately looking for more business/clients, or waste huge amounts of time and energy...

    Glitter sandwich, possible with Shellac?

The glitter sandwich. Possibly my favourite nail polish look of all time....but alas....it doesn't last long at all :-( So, could this be possible to create somehow using Shellac? As in...usual PEP, base coat, colour, glitter, colour, then topcoat? Are there any darker 'jelly' semi-sheer...

Swaroski Crystals - How many roughly?

I like the LOOK of the small crystals too, but for me - there is no way I could charge the kind of money required to make a profit round here. It's very annoying! Charging more than 20 quid for a set of acrylics/gels is hard enough. And really - these Swarovskis are just ones I had leftover...

Swaroski Crystals - How many roughly?

I just did my toes with SS7's in a mixture of gold tones (I like that look - I know some people aren't keen!). I applied directly to the nail plate with GelBond, no minx/glitter as a base. I used 73 crystals on one foot, 75 on the other. And I think they look just fine -except for my...

    How would you create this?

Yeah, I got confused by Jan Arnold saying at the start of the video that it can be 'added to any CND coating system'. I know it doesn't actually show mixing into shellac in the video, I just thought they were some random examples/demos. It was me being a plonker! Oh well - I know now!! Video...

    Crystal manicure/pedicure

Very pretty :-) I suppose if you are doing designs/patterns using the Swarovskis you need the smaller size, but if it is just 1 plain colour, SS6 or SS7 would work too. xx

    Additives demo youtube

So can you not mix up your own colours with additives and Shellac at all? Creme Puff Shellac with additive for example? Why does it make a difference to the chemistry of Shellac but not other systems? xx
  15. TwinkleTips69

    How would you create this?

Ah, well scrap that then!! I just assumed additives - meant you could add them into stuff! We add glitters and pigments into every other system without compromise? I saw this CND video on You Tube, and surely it's the same principle? xx

    Crystal manicure/pedicure

700? Yikes, that's a lot of crystals! And very costly? Surely you'd have to charge a hell of a lot to make your money back, pay for your time and make profit? I guess that's why Nails Inc charge so much (not sure if I'm allowed to say that!). 50 crystals on each small toe? That seems like an...

    Ombré manicure, please help!

I'm thinking that is a re-touched photo too :-S Doesn't look quite right to me. Very pretty colour combo though, and I'm sure a very similar effect can be achieved with Additives or mica powders. xx
  18. TwinkleTips69

    How would you create this?

Could you not just dot a blob of cream puff onto a piece of plastic and mix each colour up with additives? Then use a nail art brush to apply each colour over a base layer of cream puff? Like: one hand at a time: yellow line on each nail - lock with UV lamp, blue line - lock etc...

Gold Swarovski crystals not gold enough?

I used to do crystal phone cases and the colour closest to gold was Light Colorado Topaz. Hope that helps :-)

    Swarovski Crystals/no shine!

What tool did you use to actually place the crystals onto the nail? x
