    Shades eq

If you look at one of the shade charts above it it says what the background colours are. Anything with a grey to black background if used on its own will come out 1-2 shades darker. I would never add warmth into my colours when using L’Oréal for a natural or cool result but with Redken Shades...

    Shades eq

Sorry just realised you said you wanted the roots flat! I would still avoid the NA and would opt for something like 6T instead. The background colour is still black to grey like the NA colours however it’s a little more forgiving.

    Shades eq

I use Redken in salon. In my experience the NAs are extremely flat and dense colours and only really should be used for corrective work. If you are looking for nice root colours the Ns NB, GB and even WG are nice colours. My standard go to is 7n+6NB If you are looking for a creamy blonde I...

2 for the price of 1!

I have had one do this to me and is coming back in tomorrow for another haircut. My response was something along the lines of the salon needs to be made aware of any adjustments you want made to your haircut within 5 days of your original appointment and if they are ever unsure that...

    Colour help

Use the target shade in colour touch and 4% colour touch emulsion. There is no need to pre pig to go 3 shades darker on natural hair at those sort of depths. :)

    Half head colour

I agree with using foils to get super light canvas. I would be more inclined to use Colour Touch to tone with not 12/81. Maybe 9/16 with 10/81. If you want to use Koleston use 10/86 and 10/16 in with pastel. Don’t use anything from the 12/.

Help! Green hair and wants to be blonde

If it isn’t hugely green/blue bleach London Rose shampoo has worked wonders to remove green tinges in my experience....it would be easy to get a hold too.

    7/1 too warm

I wondered the same but I’m suspecting its the 7/0 not having enough coverage and leaving an orange cast where the hair needs more base colour adding too it. I think a 77/0 would sort it.

    7/1 too warm

I’m assuming you are using wella. 7/1 won’t really neutralise much warmth. I’m guessing you mean it’s more orange tones as it’s a level 7 you are working with, in which case you would be better off using a 7/18 to control the warmth. You could also use 77/0 and add /81 mix tone in. It might...

    Hi lift blonde toning help

I would just get your stylist to highlight through the warmth when you can get back in the salon. The regrowth isn’t light enough for most of the “blonde toners” you can buy in the shops. I would leave it be as crossing over and applying product onto the previously highlighted hair could cause...

    Special mix

I probably wouldn’t because they have different pHs and it would offset the lift and deposit of the colour. What is your natural base and what is your target shade?

    Styling help please

When you next get your hair cut make sure the stylist knows your goal as they may want to try and cut more texture into your hair. This will help. Try blow dry primers and maybe even a mousse to apply when the hair is damp and blow dry forward then back forward and back and lift the hair up to...

Can I apply this bleach over my already bleached hair?

I definitely would follow what the instructions are saying. Bleaching your hair for a 3rd time, especially with all the different levels of lightness you have, would just be a recipe for disaster...in-fact I’m surprised you actually have any hair left after using a 40vol twice! 40 volume and...

    Bleach disaster

I think I would avoid giving her any advice apart from do not touch the bleach again and use a purple shampoo. You could offer to perform an allergy test by leaving it at her door and therefore offer her a priority appointment once lockdown allows you to get back in the salon? You haven’t...

Level 2 hair student looking for help

Task A is asking you to consider the influencing factors when cutting hair. These are the factors that will help you decide what direction the service needs to take, what tools you will need to use, products you will be using and whether or not the service is safe to carry out and realistic. I...

Level 2 hair student looking for help

Which parts are you looking for help in specifically? I would say start with task C simply because consultation and preparation of tools etc comes before carrying out any services so having a solid understanding in that area first would probably help you flow into the other tasks. If you...

Cutting your own hair - would you do it yourself?

Although thinking back on that you mentioned you have quite fine hair- so maybe not the best idea. Still though if you are prepared to clipper it all down anyway I’d say have some fun with it first and see what you can manage by yourself.

Cutting your own hair - would you do it yourself?

I frequently point cut into mine and texturise it out a bit as my friend who regularly does my haircuts leaves it all too blunt. As for the clippers round the back I have seriously messed that up before on myself [emoji28] faded perfectly on my right side but then working that onto the left was...

    Hair help please

Unfortunately it’s against site rules to give out technical advice. My only advice would be to wait until you can see a colourist! I certainly wouldn’t be block colouring root to point with the same permanent colour if your hair is in the condition you describe, especially if you are then...
