My sister has an aesthetic clinic in London and also struggling to get staff.it’s crazy

    Asking for options!

I also had a big break from hairdressing and I was so scared to get back to it. The only thing that helped was education and practice. Get some extra courses online and in person to get you up to date with all the new techniques and practice, even if is on the doll or friends and family. You...

    Hair toners

I always ask for 2-3 pictures with the colour desired and 1-2 with something similar which they don’t like to bring with them at the consultation or to send it before the appointment if consultation is online. I am very firm about this as I don’t like to spend too much time while they decide...

Olaplex (and other products) potentially banned under new EU laws - hoax?

Hi! Does this has anything to do with the fact that no suppliers have the 2L Olaplex Shampoo in stock? I’ve been trying to get it since last year in August but it’s always out of stock. Also one of the suppliers states that this is due difficulties “in sourcing the ingredients”. Thank you 🙏

    Best /longest lasting toner

Hi Alan, I use Redken and Wella for toning. I totally agree that Colour Touch is not as sheer as Shades EQ but I think they both last as long. In my understanding from your post the client would have preferred it cooler so I think maybe changing the formula would be an option. From my...

    Self employment advice

Yeah, it sounded very exaggerated. Thank you for the reply.

    Self employment advice

Thank you for the reply. That makes sense. I was told about a legislation that is in place in case someone sues an sole trader and goes to court they can take anything that’s in that persons name (house, car, etc) I mean, I know it’s exaggerated and I do everything by the book, patch test and...

    Self employment advice

Hi, I hope someone can give me a little advice. I have recently become a freelance/ mobile hairdresser. I’ve always been employed so I find it very difficult to figure out the self employment thing. I have registered with hrmc as sole trader but I was speaking to someone today and he told me I...

    Color Touch as a toner

Hi! I actually had the CT on virgin hair lifting the base and know other stylists that had the same issue. I still use Wella for my toners for certain clients but I now mostly moved to Redken Shades EQ because it does not shift the base at all and it actually gives a lot of shine as well.

Shampoo for colored hair, not too volumizing?

Have a look into Color Wow products. Color security shampoo and conditioner are really good and sulfate free.

    Unhappy with highlights

Do you mind if you post a picture with the colour you wanted to have? Most of the times when someone has your level of natural colour and wants golden/ caramel/ honey highlights I would use a low peroxide with the bleach so it will not lift to a level 9-10 (light blonde) as it will remove most...

    Wella toners?

I love when clients send you photoshopped pictures. 3/0 in CT will be too dark I think also yo’ll have to lighten the highlights a lot more and tone with a light ash colour. You should also be aware of the root smudging the ends while you rinse off if too dark and not too careful

    Dry hair

Check if she had any products on her hair. Even dry shampoo or a hair mask that was meant to be washed off with shampoo not just rinsed off.

    Wella help

Also don’t panic when you see how dark the colour goes while processing and leave it for the full 20min. It will be dark when you wash it off as well. You will be able to see the full result when completely dry.

    Wella help

That’s a good combination! I always add some N on my toners to “stabilise” it a bit, also remember that the N series in Redken SEQ are quite cool comparing to Wella which are more neutral or even a bit warm. Also 9VG has more pigment than 10VG and it’s always a good idea to mix some clear with...

    Silver back to brown

Do a reverse balayage, use 2 different formulas 1 slightly lighter than the other. Definitely a demi colour and you’ll have to pre pig the whole hair before. Use the colour correction wheel and check what pigment is under the level you want to go ( yellow, gold, copper) and use half shade darker...

    Wella help

My hairdresser left the toner on last time for 3min at the basin, it was Illumina and honestly it only lasted 1 wash. A bit disappointing as I pay extra for the toner.

    Wella help

I also use Shade EQ and yes I do dilute with 00 and when I use Illumina I try to add 10/ most of the times. My fave combo is 10/ 10/36 and 10/69 and leave it for 10min, check it by scrapping off a bit of colour and if need it I’ll leave few more mins, no more than 5min. I always try to explain...

    Wella help

I usually leave it 10-15min. I realised anything less than 10min will come off in 1-2 washes.
