Good way of advertising a minimum charge?

Just state their is minimum spend of (for example) £10 for all mobile visits, that all apps outside of a certain radius (ie 5miles) incur x amount extra per mile.

    Comedone extractor kit recommendations

Dermalogica scaling fluid, steamer, and gloved hands/tissue. You wont find a professional kit on ebay/amazon. I personally get on better with above method than comedone extractor tools.

    Low prices

I would never go to someone that charged such low prices,I would be worried about the quality of treatment I received and level.of skill/qualification. It doesn't matter what other people charge, workout how much you need to charge to make a reasonable and worthwhile profit x

    Delsera wax

Its not advised to use talc anymore as its carcinogenic,a few brands use pre wax oil instead,u do only need a tiny bit which you dab off and it makes the treatment much more comfortable. I have used delsera and never had any probs. Perron rigot is another popular brand, the jasmine oil pre wax...

Beauty treatments from a chaise longue or day bed?

I would only use a beauty couch (either portable or static) for treatments to maintain a professional.look and feel as well as ensure you don't damage your back etc. The post about one of those big bean bags is quite good as this would fit under the beauty bed when not in use, just cover the...

    Pricing change?

I cant offer advice on this one as I am on the beauty side, but I would pop this qu on the hairdressing forum for poss more help? What I would say is charge what you think you are worth,so what if the salon down the road charges less, you may be more qualified/more experienced /generally better at...

    Employees using chargers at work

The more important issue is making sure the chargers they use are pat tested if they are being used on the premises .obviously they should only be accessing their phones on designated breaks etc and be out of view of clients but allowing them.to charge them shouldn't be an issue (in my opinion)...

    Website builder

A website isn't just a website,it will most likely be your most useful and used marketing tool, most potential.clients will check your website out before contacting you etc. There's nothing wrong with wix as a starter,I currently have a wix and it does the job, however I am.looking I to getting...

    Charity ladies night treatments

Yes I have done loads, I would be offering the treatments that you most want to promote or that will hopefully gain you the most business. A hand and arm.massage is nice but it probably wont open up.many doors to new clients. I normally focus on back massage, indian head massage or reflexology...

    Feeling stressed

Hmm I wouldn't be happy with the attitude of the level three girl, even when qualified we can all improve our skills,no one is perfect! College training is just the beginning (and I teach in a college -I'm not dissing the training received but am fully aware that when the girls leave us their...

    Gloves for electrolysis?

Most insurance providers stipulate gloves must be worn or insurance is invalid. I trained in 1997 and gloves weren't optional then, I have been teaching it for 12 years and all awarding bodies (vtct, c&g,cibtac) state gloves must be worn x

    Teaching makeup and gaining accreditation

If you don't charge to accredit, how are you making money on training providers accredited through you? Or is it all charitable?

How to claim your product costing back

This only applies if you have no other source of income ie if you also have another paid employment job elsewhere and your beauty /hair self employed income is on top of that. Everyone has a personal tax free allowance they are entitled to, but if you earn, for example, £15000 a year in a salon...

    Training/apprenticeship advice

I'm not sure there are many if any apprenticeships for complementary therapies, and if the money isn't enough anyway its not really a viable option to contemplate. Look around for a decent private training provider, as you may be able to use Holiday to complete the course as they are more...

    Teaching makeup and gaining accreditation

You need to be a qualified teacher to be accredited by the guild, plus you need to be a member and have insurance as well as teachers insurance. You then write the course syllabus /resources and send it to the guild for accreditation. They charge per handfuls of courses to be accredited rather...

    Makeup assessment

Hi, i teach makeup and havent come across this particular question in an exam, however would suggest that they are looking for information along the lines of: checking to see if client wears contact lenses and if so you may need to check mascara type etc as some contain filaments which may...

    Regrowth after 2 days

I would suggest that either the hairs were snapped off rather than removed, or your hair growth cycle is out of sync (ie the telogen hairs were removed and your new hairs have come through) x
