What nails are you sporting today?

Hi Zoe. I asked my colleague which glitters they are but she said she can't remember the name, she just picked them up at pro beauty last year. Have you looked at the magpie glitters though? They are stunning

Advice on renting a room out to a hairdresser

Hey lovely, I agree. I have always paid for the decoration of salons that I have rented. I wouldn't expect the landlord to do that as it's my choice to change it to my taste. Plus they would have just laughed and said no. If I was paying a full rent for a property, I would expect it to be...

Advice on renting a room out to a hairdresser

Hello and thank you for the reply [emoji4]. I totally get where your coming from but the only reason we wouldn't renew a contract was if they fell behind or refused to pay the rent. And if they didn't pay rent but had put windows into the property, then we haven't lost anything either. But I get...

Advice on renting a room out to a hairdresser

Hello, Thanks for the reply [emoji4]. I should have explained myself better on the initial post. We rent the property off a landlord and have done considerable works to it including dbl glazing and plumbing and we just didn't want to do any more on that room as we don't use it. So thought it...

Advice on renting a room out to a hairdresser

Thanks for the reply. We haven't advertised it. Just wanted to get some views before doing that. Fair point about the items but we have already paid for all the furniture and installation of the backwash and plumbing so the new person wouldn't have that as an outlay like most. Also, we rent it...

Advice on renting a room out to a hairdresser

Hey attitude, funny you should ask that as When we took the property over (we rent from a landlord), it was all single glazed and needed plumbing, redecorating and ALL the furniture. We have had 8 double glazed windows fitted a new upvc door, levelled the floors, fitted flooring, added plumbing...

Advice on renting a room out to a hairdresser

Thank you Beckybee for the info [emoji4]. The Windows will be the only 'big cost' as the stations, backwash, colour charts, trolleys and hairdryers are already there. The Windows are only house size too so shouldn't be more than £1000 for the two. I just wasn't sure if that sum would put people...

Advice on renting a room out to a hairdresser

Hello lovelies. I'd love to hear people's opinions please. We have a large room to the rear of our salon (converted farm house in a lovely courtyard setting) that is set out with two stations and a backwash but it needs work. I would say re decorating, two new windows (the old ones are only...

    Trainee nail tech, North Wales

Why do you think it won't be right for you? If you are trying to build clients, see if you can initially work on a commission basis and review it every month. Is the one day course for gel polish? Just practice as much as you can once you have done it and if you do start at a salon, just make...

    CJP or INK London?

Hello all, I had previously posted that I was looking to go back into nails and as it transpires, I have been given an opportunity to work in a lovely salon a few days a week-yey!! I'm now trying to pick a new brand as I have always been a CND girl, but as I haven't been doing many nails in...

    Trainee nail tech, North Wales

Hi lovely. I'm from Llandudno but recently moved so am in the same situation with looking for a salon. What I have done is look on fb for all the salons in the area and see if they are advertising for a nail tech. If you can't see any ads, just call the salons and ask if they would be...

    Metallic nails, which products, layering?

Have a look at some YouTube videos. I found they helped and you can see the different outcome on different pinks . I would use a pink that isn't too bright or too nude. It's hard to explain . Xx

    Metallic nails, which products, layering?

Hello, Do you mean like the rose gold mirror finish? If you paint a pink gel polish on then add the chrome powder, it will come out 'rose gold' if you pait the nails with black gel polish and use the same powder, it will come out silver

    Why not Bluesky?

Hi Steph. I trained with CND and have always used their products (including Shellac) and yes, they are lovely products. But About a year ago, my client was harassing me to get her some thermal gels she had seen on her friend. I advised they were not Shellac and that you actually get them off...

    Advice desperately needed!

Thank you ladies That's a good plan. I saw a job advertised that paid £8 an hour and they were happy to do some training so might give them a call. I have one shellac client that has been with me for the last 4 years and we love having a catch up and a natter. That's the part I love about the...
