How much do you earn before you are taxed?

You need to register with HMRC within three months of starting your business. You will need to make a profit of £8105 or over to be paying tax. As Vetty said, even if you earn less, you will still need to complete a tax return. You will also need to pay national insurance contributions -...

How to calculate tax for hair extensions

You can work out your profit every week if you want to work out how much money you have to put aside for tax and NI, even every day, it doesn't matter, but when you do your tax return each year, you will need to work it out annually and give them an annual profit/loss. Any tax and NI that you...

How to calculate tax for hair extensions

Example: If you earn £500 for doing a full set of extensions, and it costs you £400 in hair, you make a profit of £100. As you are paying tax on your other job, then you will pay tax on anything you earn doing the extensions. You do need to take account of all of your other expenses...

    Hollywood in Surrey?

Maybe message Kim Lawless and ask if she's trained anyone in that area? I used to own a salon in Woking where everyone was trained properly, but that's probably a good 30-40 mins from you.

    Removing spray tans!

A few years back, Zingara posted a thread on how to remove tan so easily using a pineapple and baby oil! Do a search for some of her posts and you may be able to find it - it works really well.

    Eyelash extension help

You should not be applying lashes to every lash. Only to ones that are further along in their growth cycle. Attaching a lash to a 'baby' lash will only cause damage and cause them to shed prematurely. If you're unsure, you should consult your trainer as this should have been covered in your...

How to calculate tax for hair extensions

Basic accounting principals are: Sales (total your sales & retail sales) less cost of sales (all your expenses, cost of hair, uniform etc etc) = profit Then if you earn over the tax threshold each year you work out your tax from that.

Client in hospital after semi perm lashes?

I would be more concerned that so many people were having reactions! It's not something I'm familiar with with the adhesive I use.

Client in hospital after semi perm lashes?

It is unlikely that applying a couple of lashes to each eye would have avoided this situation. Sensitivity issues where the eye has been exposed to the vapours / ingredients in adhesives tend to occur after more than a couple of lashes have been applied. Doing a patch test on someones wrist is...

Client in hospital after semi perm lashes?

I'm not saying it doesn't! I'm saying it's a part of the reasoning. Just putting a couple of lashes on each eye doesn't give you enough exposure from the adhesive to judge whether or not a client will have a reaction. A lot more lashes would have to be applied for an accurate patch test.

Client in hospital after semi perm lashes?

I don't patch test, I use Xtreme Lashes. Their reasoning behind it is... 1. The glue should not come into contact with the skin. 2. Putting a couple of eyelashes on each eye as a patch test is not an effective way of telling if someone will have a reaction. You'd need to put A LOT more on to...

    Website opinions

I see you've put where you're based - might be a good idea putting the county in as well (is it Warwickshire?!) - having this mentioned a few times on your website is a good idea. I'm not sure of the technical aspects of how it works but when it comes to your google ranking, in my experience it...

    Website opinions

I agree with the previous posters comments and I have a couple more..... I can't see anywhere that it mentions what area you live in / are based in / service. In my experience having this mentioned helps your google ranking. Also, I don't really think it's professional to put kisses on...

    Can't get extension clients?

From the information I've read from one of your previous posts you are only offering HALF a service.... .....You don't cut hair! If you can't do that then you're not offering a complete service and you will not get as may clients. I've had my fair share of extensions before and there...
