Who are you in the salon?

Good poll! Isn't it interesting most of the respondents work for themselves-I don't think many employed therapists/technicians have the same passion for their work :?:

    Multiple Sclerosis

Yup I have a lovely new client with MS that is quite far progressed and she says pedicures-the massage in particular-give her a lovely tingly feeling in her feet. Her circulation is terrible bless her but the massage really helps disperse the fluid build up too X

    Rent

Hi, I split 50/50 with the hairdressers (apparently this is how hairdressers work) I work from 2 days a week but she was very generous and offered me 60/40 through Nov while it is quieter to make it woth my while being there. After 6 months she wants £50 a day though which I think is very...

    My local NSS !

I know this is a little off subject but can you believe a client who has previously only been to a NSS actually asked me to cut off her hyponichium with my cuticle nippers because she didn't like the look of it. Apparently every time she had had her nails done before they had used the E-file to...

    Hairdressers and their enhancements

Maybe I was a bit confusing-the tip itself didn't actually break it was as if the glue had broken down so the end of the enhancement wasn't attched to the natural nail anymore and then it broke across the stress line so that the whole tip came off X

    Hairdressers and their enhancements

Hi all, I have recently had a problem with a client who is a hairdresser and I wondered if anyome would be able to shed some light on it for me? She had a full set on 2 weeks ago and broke one by falling over and then said another one fell off (they were both the ring fingers which are a little...

THE NEXT BIG THING ?.... new application method

Just had a thought-will the new application method affect training courses or will it be something that qualified techs can get involved in if they choose? From what I understand it is not a replacement for professionally sculpted nails so will new techs have to master the original method...

Nail Pricing? Dont know what to do!!

Yep I totally agree no master technician should charge £25.00!!! I'm sure you could both put your prices up, if you're worried about the competition I found when I was charging £30.00 people thought they wouldn't be as good as the place down the road that charge £37.00. So I put mine up to...

one swipe french polish or several strokes?

Sometimes I find french polish highlights ridges in the nails so I mainly put the white on first and touch it up, put a coat of ridge out over that, a coat of negligee and then a coat of super shiney. I know you should use a base coat but I find this gives a really flawless finish and only lasts...

    By accident or design?

Wow Carl your site is amazing! Personally I had acrylics since I was 13 and then decided to do a BTEC in beauty therapy just because I liked the look of it followed by all my Creative courses and mobile tech work. My BTEC then came to an end and I realised if I had to work full time to support...
