    Short nail - gel overlay

I am wondering how much "stress area" building you geeks do when creating a very short natural nail gel overlay? Do you just overlay like polish, or do you actually build a nail. I can't seem to get the free-edge looking natural/thin enough when doing the shorter nails, mostly when doing a...

For Mobile how do you heat your towels?

Crock pots actually heat quite quickly! That's what I used. Hot, hot water on the towels before putting them in the crock, crank to high. For mitts, I'd just set them atop the crock, the heat from the crock heats them pretty nicely!

    Brush cleaning....

I may at this point use a brush cleaner, EZ flow makes a good one. Brush cleaners usually contain conditioners that will help to soften dry bristles and can sometimes beat the "separation" problem. I wouldn't soak in any liquid "for a few days" though, this will slowly eat away at the glue...

    Ugly duck nails

I had an "open mouth, insert foot" incident the other day in reguards to these shaped nails. I was chatting with a soon to be new client who was wearing a set of l/p pink whites, they were duckbilled/flared at the tips; I thought it was from a really inexperienced tech. I was explaining that I...

    SPARITUAL shall I?

Vegan products are a big sell point in my area (Olympia, WA; USA). You really can't beat the natural scents they use, and the remover really works well for being more "natural" based, using sugar solvents. Also, I absolutely love thier polish. Shiloh

    face mask during pedicures

I always wear gloves while doing a pedi, but not a mask. I did use a mask a couple times while I was recovering from a really bad lung injury; didn't want to breath in any bacteria. Shiloh

    Teach me more . . .

Do you do many roller sets in the Salon? The shop I Manicure at doesn't really do any?? Thanks for the tips, I do find that you don't get to "style" many of your clients in school. Shiloh

    paraffin bath

Interesting, I've never had my wax get hotter once it's out of the bath?? Strange. . .

    paraffin bath

Generally your paraffin takes a couple hours to set to a hardened state, if that's what you're trying to figure out. I would try scooping out some paraffin into a plastic bag, then insert the hand/foot and squish it around to cover (you should only need a couple ounces). This way you shouldn't...

    Teach me more . . .

So, I'm finishing my Cosmetology hours for my license. I have about 800 hours of training left. I would like my to know what you would have liked to learn more of in school. What did you feel most uncomfortable doing once working professionally? Thanks, Shiloh

    Product purchasing in other Countries.

I've read multiple comments in reguards to "having to train with certain products in order to buy them". It seems as though maybe, in Europe or areas other that the US/Canada that you have to do a manufacturers course in order to buy professional products? Is this correct? or am I mistaken? I...

"I just need nails for a wedding"

Thanks for all the response. I guess I just want so much for everyone to keep up their enhancements. The issue that makes me so frustrated is that I know some clients will still remove on their own and damage their nails to the dry thin state. I wish I could educate the world, but I can't; I...

"I just need nails for a wedding"

Nothing makes me cringe more than to hear these words come out of a clients mouth. I've taken your appointment, blocked out the appropriate time and want to send you back out the door to the NSS shop down the corner. Now, I'm not just posting to complain, but I'm really curious as to how my...

    Traveling with nail products? Precautions?

Here is something to think about too, cabin pressure and baggage pressure can be different. I've had things explode in my suitcase before. A tip was given to me from a tech that does educational travel with gels, she takes an hour before packing her kit to wipe clean every bottle of polish...

    Razoring the feet?

I'm sooo glad you checked it out! I would've never really believed it until I saw it. I could never do a pedi without it by my side. This will make you're life so much easier, you'll find that you'll gain clients for life, just off of this product. Yea! Shiloh
