Does anyone know much about email marketing?

My first job out of Uni was as a designer with an email marketing company ;) As suggested above, the best is probably Mail Chimp- and it's free up until a certain amount of emails (I forget how many, but it's a lot). However, it (and most of them) can be a little daunting if you're not IT...

Facebook advertising, does it actually work?

As someone said above (good advice)- encourage interaction. Facebook gets more advertising revenue when more people see their adverts...obviously. The way people see more adverts is when people like and share and comment on stories and posts. Facebook actively rewards you (by you appearing on...

Facebook advertising, does it actually work?

...........I'll also be blunt. I hear a lot that people's marketing isn't "working". Frankly that's down to two reasons. 1. What you're offering isn't attractive enough. 2. You're doing it wrong. and both of those can be fixed.

Facebook advertising, does it actually work?

Does it work? Yes. Does it work straight away and with no effort? No. It's like any other form of marketing- it's a numbers game. If you've got a page with few likers then it's not going to have a fantastic return straight away. If you take your time, increase your likers, and have them...

    Are people/clients getting ruder? Discuss

Blimey- I read the first part of this and panicked! What have I done wrong! ;)

    Are people/clients getting ruder? Discuss

Ok ok- it's me!..... Joking aside, I do think no-shows and lateness have been more of an issue in the last couple of years, as have a raising in "expectations". Now, that's not a bad thing- and I like to think we meet expectations 99.9% of the time. Don't get me wrong the vast majority of...

    Deposit for Xmas bookings

I wrote and designed this for a client of mine recently. I think no-shows and lateness are endemic at the moment...and there's certainly no time for that at Xmas!

    Are people/clients getting ruder? Discuss

I have my own opinions on this- especially after a couple of emails I've received today, and some recent experiences from the salon we were running. I'll keep this short and sweet...in your experience, are clients getting ruder/more demanding? Or....am I just turning into a grumpy old sod?

    Customer's details

Hate to always be the pedantic one ;) There's lots of laws surrounding data protection. https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/business/ The data protection toolkit is handy. On topic- Perhaps the client is just protective of her data/private information? I'm not terribly keen about giving our...

    Treating other prying therapists?

I had this a few years ago in my trade. I had someone asking lots of questions "Where do I get fonts from", "What kind of software do you use"- and I patiently answered everything (being naive) A month later- they're on Facebook advertising themselves as a "designer" - and she's doing versions...

Someone has stolen my business name!

I'm afraid, as folks have said above, she's not in breach of any law. If someone had copywritten the "Hair by..." you'd be the one having to change your name ;) Unless you have very specific legally binding proof that she's "passing off" (i.e. she's literally pretending she's you- and you'd...

Please help me with consultation forms

I can't I'm afraid, my record system isn't that sophisticated where I can call them all up ;) - you're best having a look through our Facebook page galleries...there's a lot on there!

Please help me with consultation forms

There are no different ones ;) That's what we're saying- this is a generic catch-all one. There are different designs of course, we re-design the colours/branding etc...but the form itself is one-size fits all in terms of questions. We realise, of course, that it's not going to cover everyone...

Please help me with consultation forms

I've, with a LOT of help from clients, have designed these generic consultation forms (designed to be printed at home, with a client record on the reverse) We re-brand the generic one for clients as it's a "one size fits all" form really!

    Salon name - industrial themes

In between clients, to practice new designs, I often make up new business names. I did this one a few weeks ago....no-one else liked it, but I did! And it's certainly industrial!

    What should I do?

Imagine you confront the client, and she goes on Facebook suggesting that a business owner has accused her of theft (I'm playing devils advocate here!), imagine dozens of people see that on her timeline and make a negative, instant, decision about your and your business. Do you think it'd cost...

    Intellectual property

I gather this is connected to your other post about "ethical marketing"? I doubt anyone is going to be able to help unless you're more specific. But to answer this question, Intellectual property is covered in formal law, and these laws differs from country to country. You're really best...
