Nail techs back at work in which U.S. states?

Salons have opened here in Oregon but I decided not to go back to the salon. It does seem early to open after seeing what has happened in California. Instead of going back to the salon im going to wait until the retirement/assisted living opens up again and continue to do nails/toenails in that...

    White airbrush paint

I wish you the best of luck most places are out of white. Iv'e been searching for months. I usually use aeroflash and has worked wonders for me for years but for some reason white is not available anywhere.

    Lotions with Urea?

Hi all, I have read about lotions containing urea 40%-45% can help with onycholysis, onycryptosis, onychomycosis, dryness/healing and thickness. Im wondering if you have recommended this to clients as an option or if you heard of this, used productgs containing it? Also, it seems as though you...

    IBS Vegas

I have always fantasized about going to the Vegas Show. But things have a way of coming up where I am then unable to go. I personally wouldn't worry about the coronavirus. If you have an opportunity to go, you should do it! I mean it has a lot to offer and all at one spot :)

    Pincer toenails

Thanks for the help. I have had some other clients with more of an extreme pincer nail where it curls almost into a circle. I have trimmed those the same straight across with the edges rounded off slightly. I agree that darn pressure from shoes and whatnot. I seem to tell clients but its like...

Nail dryness from gel polish removal

Thanks will try what you both have mentioned. It happens more with client with ridges, and some elderly.

    Pincer toenails

I was wondering if any of you have had experience trimming these type of nails/toenails. I have had some clients say that the place that they have gone to get them trimmed before cut the corners in quite a bit. I feel concerned with doing that due to the probability of them becoming ingrown. I...

Nail dryness from gel polish removal

Hi all, I have some clients that experience excessive dryness. The removal process I think is taking a toll on the nails due to the acetone, which is leaving white marks/dehydrated like areas on nails. Has anyone else experienced this? What o or use to prevent this? I have been using OPI, and...

    Air bubbles in my acrylic

Shaking will add airbubbles. One bead method is the best method for me

    Sterilising nail tools

Wearing gloves is the best for us nail techs. I want to start wearing them when I do nails, but havn't gotten to that point yet. But for toes I wear gloves all the way. When I first started I didn't but after awhile the exfoliant starts to wear on your skin and in hindsight in posed a way for...

    Sterilising nail tools

Ive noticed we spell sterilize/sterilise different. It must be spelt differently there.

    Sterilising nail tools

Yeah, the thing is is that once you start youtubing everyone does disinfection/sterilization inconsistently, it can be a definite rabbit hole because there is no accountability. I personally love all of youtube nail stuff but I cannot take anything seriously lol. The other thing is is making...

    Sterilising nail tools

No, no you dont come across that way at all. I forgot to mention brush stuff. Anything that comes into contact with blood is contaminated and brushes are not ever going to make it through the disinfection process so its a goner. Technically, it is said that the reason why we dont need to replace...

    Sterilising nail tools

The thing is is that anything that has been in contact with the client needs to be either disposable, reusable with a way to decontaminate, sanitize and disinfect anything else needs to be thrown away. For instance why we have non-porous desks etc to make it easier to disinfect. Implements that...

What nails are you sporting today?

Curious to see what nails you all have done and are proud of and how you have achieved it and with what products. It helps to get motivated to push ourselves beyond limit, lol. Anyone have some airbrushing work they have done and how they did it also would be so much fun!

    Air bubbles in my acrylic

I ditto trinity. We gotta keep out brushes away from acetone. Also, its best to not pick at the brush or put to much pressure on the bristles. Do you use the 3 ball method or one bead method?

    Sterilising nail tools

I would probably add baracide plus for sharp tools, and all tools should be fully immersed in solution for appx. 10 minutes with the new barbicide plus formula which now is more pastel blue with a stronger distinct smell but is tuberculocidal, fungicidal, virucidal, bactericidal. All...

    Help, difficult client!

Thats for sure! Clients can respect nails more when they are charged more!! In this case I would give yourself a raise and charge her accordingly. These types of situations with kids are going to happen but should be still be serviceable by charging more and by providing less. Such as no nail...

How do you get a polished look with gel polish?

How do you get a polished look with gel polish, especially around the cuticles? How do you clean up around the cuticles with gel polish? I have found that an orangewood stick just doesn't cut it for the most part and have started to use a nylon rounded brush to clean up in that area that works...

    Finish filing?

I agree hand filing works the best. But for me I have 8-10 clients a day and after the 5 or earlier my hands do get tired. So this is a solution that I have found that works for me that works and is a huge relief to overworking my hands.
