    Too much choice!

A good "rule of thumb" for me is if I advise a product for at home use, I carry it. Solar oil is a must have for me.

    CND Silver Badge

I am from the states also, and when I recieved my Masters Certification, I recieved a beautiful pin that says Master Technician. I wear on it my smock for all to see. I also recieved a beautiful, large certificate for my wall, and a decal which I display on the front of my station. The cover...

    Nailart using photo in nail

I pretty much eyeball most everything also..lol I'm not sure about the pixels, I would start at 30x30 or smaller and see how it prints. If I hold my ring finger up to the screen, an avitar drowns me..for my hand, I would need at least 1/2 the size of an avitar.( Good thing most of my clients...

    Nailart using photo in nail

When it comes to personal photo's, I have the client bring them sized to their nail with them. I do size them occasionally, but I charge extra for it does take a bit of time. Most of the inlays I do are about the size of an eraser thats on the end of a pencil and smaller. I like to do them...

    Nailart using photo in nail

AWESOME loo!!! Beautiful! Inlays, as I have come to call them in my salon are one of my most popular arts, and I charge $5.00 US for each nail. I tell my clients, as long as it is on paper, and 100% dry, I can inlay it. I also keep a supply of things like butterflies, hearts, and flowers...

    Parafin wax heaters

I have a dipping style machine, with lid. It has melt, warm, and standby settings. I turn it on warm every morning whether I have a dip that morning or not, and it usually takes about an hour and 15 to be ready. After a weekend, it will take about 2 hours to be ready. The only time I have...

    acrylic dilema :o(

My little brother did something similar to one of his finger nails. I did exactly what Geeg just said.. and it worked wonderfully! He works on the gas rigs here, and tends to be in oil and grease alot. I did notice that the acrylic needed to be tended to more frequently ( weekly instead of...

    A pocketful o woe

Wonderful article! However, I do have a couple of questions, I am hoping you can help me with... 1. When pocket lifting "appears" in zone 2 3-4 fills after the full set, is it caused from the same "wrong" mix ratio? 2. What is the best way to repair a pocket lift? Thanks in...

    A big tip

My "biggest" tip came from a 75 yr old client. Out of the blue one day, after her service, she gave me a HUGE hug and told me she was glad I was there and that she just didn't know what she would do without me. To me, that was better than any $$ tip!

Need help with natural nail crack

I had a client call me today, and tell me that she "stepped" on her hand, and broke a nail clear through her natural nail. She has made an appointment for first thing in the morn. My first thought was to soak off, but I wonder what the remover will do to the "open" crack? I know it...

    How often do you re-Bob?

I honestly don't know the correct answer. Monomer was the only way I knew of at the time, so I flat out guessed on this one . I am sure I missed it....lol However, my choices were these (as close as I can remember): a. mild soap and water b. professional brush cleaner c...

    How often do you re-Bob?

Sorry nicolajane! I believe that the correct way to store your brush is horizontal, and covered as to keep the dust off. I have done this with my "betsy" for over a year, and have never had any problems with contamination. As for stuck product, you might try soaking it in monomer...

    How often do you re-Bob?

We were taught in school NEVER to cut the eponychium, and no, at state boards we were not required to demonstrate. Actually nippers were not allowed at all. However, even though we had already properly manicured one hand, we were required to properly manicure each finger before enhancement...

    How often do you re-Bob?

In school, we were taught to always clean our brushes in monomer. However, on my state exam for licensure,( multiple choice) there was the question: What is the proper way in which to clean your acrylic brush? "In monomer" was not an answer option!....
