    Working hours?

If you are prepared to do it, maybe charge them a premium rate after 8pm? Supply matching demand and all that...Some won't bat an eyelid, and cough up, and others will change to an earlier time, so at least you'd be compensated for working those late hours.

Business refusing service based on gender..

A lot has been said on here about equality law, discrimination, and human rights, as well as litigation. I wonder if it would be worth your while calling in at the salon and introducing yourself, (or phoning ahead and asking for a convenient time) and asking about the service you were interested...

Stop OAP discount or up the price?

What about some kind of loyalty card instead? Give them some money off after say 6 or 10 treatments? Just a thought.

    People insulting this chosen career

That's a bit rude! Turn it around and ask them if they've had any regrets about doing their job. And tell them you're not just motivated by money when it comes to choosing a job, but by job satisfaction. That might shut them up.

    Working environment responsibility?

Only if you're employed. Or if that's what it says in your contract with your landlord.

    Shellac gone funny

Has it done this on any other client before? It might be interesting to know whether it's the product or something this particular client might have done, to cause this to happen. Having said that I'm no nail expert but we had some mid to pale pink shades in gel which used to fade when clients...

Insurance, overall policy to cover contents & procedures including RF

Try Morgan Richardson, they do a salon specific policy covering bricks and mortar, contents, treatment liability and public/employers liability. You'd have to check the exact treatments they cover though as I don't do RF or mesotherapy myself.

Luxury manicure - how long does it take you?

I usually take around an hour, sometimes slightly longer. The last time I had to do a mani in double quick time like you do was in college many years ago, in 30 mins, to pass the end of year City and Guilds exam! And vowed that if I worked for myself I would never do it as quickly, ever. Far...

Urgent visor face mask advice needed

Thanks for that, I'll definitely look into it further, as it looks like a brilliant product! Anything to make life easier for us when we go back to work.

Urgent visor face mask advice needed

This looks like a great bit of kit - but he didn't explain how it would work whilst wearing a visor! I can't see how you could have that on your head along with a visor too? What a shame.

    Hydrafacial machine from China?

I don't know the machine you are talking about, but in general I would personally not buy any expensive machine from China, even though it may well be fantastic. The reason being because if you have any issues with it such as it malfunctioning or needing any replacement parts, contacting the...

    Burning sensation in lamp

Trinity, I wonder whether more and more councils will start to require salons to have licences from now, as they'll be after every bit of revenue they can get their hands on after this pandemic has drained their funds. My salon's within a London borough and they brought in licensing 3 years ago...

    Awful customer In 2020

She's had 8 months siting at home with nothing to do, it's probably affected her mental health, or else she's bored out of her mind, has no money and is creatively trying to come up with scams to make a quick buck. Shame on her, the photos above look beautiful, what the hell is she complaining...

    Business Interruption Insurance

Just for the record, I think it's crazy that people like yourself, who still have business expenses, are not entitled to the SEISS grant - the way the grants have been allocated doesn't seem entirely fair to me, and some have slipped through the net.

Neighbours complaining about smell of acrylic

The last thing they will want to do is close down a business and have yet another empty premises. Plenty won't even re-open after lockdown. Or do you work from home? That could be different I suppose

    Business Interruption Insurance

It's the self-employed income support scheme, which are the grants which have been given by HMRC to people who are self-employed and have 3 years of accounts. (which they use to calculate how much you're entitled to). There have been 3 so far. And the next will be announced in March I believe...

    Business Interruption Insurance

If that's the 4th SEIS grant from central governement which you're referring to, it won't be officially announced/awarded until March I believe. If it's one from your local council, they all seem to do things differently. Sometimes you need to look on their website and apply for it. They don't...

Behind closed door appointments, how to deal with the requests!

Don't get me started on football/footballers. When ordinary people aren't allowed to play tennis or golf outdoors, why is professional football any different?! Maybe I'm missing something. Stupid idiots
