How do you price nail art

For nail art, I usually charge $1-$5 per nail. $1 for a few simple stripes with one color, and maybe some glitter. $2 if I use stones, $3 would be if I used several different nail polishes, and nail paint. $4 to $5 would definetly be for 3D art, or intricate scenes. I hope this helps you.

    Length of time between maintenances???

Don't bend your standards to do what another tech is doing. As stated above, it's detrimental to the natural nail to go so long without a rebalance. Continue to educate your clients on aftercare and maintenance. Also, what I do is charge more per week after the scheduled rebalance. For...

    Advice anyone?????

I use Essie, an OPI. OPI does go gloopy after a while, and you have to keep using thinner, but my clients love the colors, and demand them by name. Essie is a great line, they make the best sheers, and the brush is the best for application. In my opinion, what really makes polish last is...

    Oh Moxie!

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO........................? Any other Moxie users out there?

What Colour Powder do you use?!

I am African-American, and I can tell you personally that you should customize "natural" powder with "pink" powder. Some African-Americans have dark lines in their nail beds, and this blend will give the perfect "clean" look to the nail bed. However, if her nails bed is without flaws or...

    Oh Moxie!

Well, I just got around to using my Moxie trial kit. I bought it at a 10 hr CE class from a Creative Educator who told me that I might like it since I was used to a faster set. So I've been sitting on the kit for about three months now, waiting for it to hatch eggs I guess......so last night I...

    Nail biters!

I too encourage weekly appointments for nail biters. They are prone to pick at any loose skin/product, so you need to get them in weekly for about a month or two until they are used to the enhancements, and they are growing out with no problems. You can charge half of what your regular infill...

    Mainaining Polished Nails ?

I usually retail the color that was used during the service, topcoat (I use Seche Vite), or stregthener, and Solar oil. Mind you I do mostly natural nails, so I advise them to put top coat over their polish the next day, and maybe again about three days later. My weekly clients come back with...

    Gel it!

Sparkle, the nails are gorgeous! You did a great job, and the smile lines are perfect! I had no idea EZ Flow was launching a gel system, I might have to give it a try. I have never used gels in my 7 years as a nail tech. I hope the system is easy to use. Keep up the good work, and thanks so...

    False Nails....!

I too hate the terms commonly used by professionals, and non-professionals referring to enhancements. "Enhancement" just sounds so classy! I love that word. I remember Brittany Spears was doing a major television interview, and she held out her hands to the reporter and said with a huge smile...

    Nite Owls??

I am a constant checker, but mainly a nite owl. I think the UK has 6-7 hours ahead of the USA, so when I come home in the evening, most of you all are asleep! Which is nice, cause I can do all the posting I want, and everybody can have loads to read when you wake up! LOL! *hugs*

    Nails Across The Pond....

Let me clarify something before too many wrong assumptions are made...... I too received this magazine with this so-called "new trend" called DUCK NAILS. I HAVE NEVER SEEN HIS BEFORE, AND NEITHER HAVE MANY OTHER TECHS HERE. The article was news to many of us. It stated that this was a trend...

    What a joke

Thanks Claire1 and every other Geek that posts jokes on this site. Some people are way to serious, and need a good laugh every now and then. So now, there's a place for us to go when we need a good laugh, and for those who aren't interested, they don't have to weed through the threads trying...

    Focus & Motivation

What keeps me going is the desire to please God in all that I do. I want to be a good steward over what He has entrusted me with. Being recently promoted to manage the nail department at the Spa was a wonderful feeling. I was reluctant to take on the extra responsibilities, but thinking about...

    Hard times

It's a slow season here too in the US. Most of us are living off of our regular clients (Thank God for them!) , and fall bridal parties. Thanksgiving, and X-mas is INSANELY busy here! I'm, actually enjoying the lull before it gets mad again. I try to use my quiet time to take classes, read...

    Permanent Top Coat

I also like Perma Gloss for myself, to keep my polish, and designs from coming off while I use remover/acetone. I tried Air Coats, and they do dry fast (great for clients in a rush), but it didn't seem to last as long as my manicures with regular base/top coat. Just my thoughts! *hugs*

Question for EZ Flow techs RE: EZ Flow Laquer

When I was in beauty school (99'), EZ Flow polishes were very popular, but I never got around to testing it out. Sadly, I've just been told that they have been discontinued! But this is odd because the polishes are still advertised on the EZ Flow website! Hmmm, I guess I'll have to do some...
