    Botox prescribers

Ashalina you are completely wrong here. Not sure where you got that info from. As a NIP I can prescribe botox and send the prescriptions to my pharmacy (wigmore, med fx etc). The prescriptions are posted following consultation and product is dispensed to my clinic. This is normal practice. No...

    Remote Prescribing of BOTOX banned

This is absolute twaddle. Complete and utter garbage! She has mislead you. If she is not a prescriber then she cannot administer botox from a remote prescription service (regardless of the organisation she belongs to - which I can hazard a guess at)! The patient MUST have a FACE TO FACE...

    Remote Prescribing of BOTOX banned

A nurse with independent prescribing qualification can still prescribe and administer botox. The nurse MUST be a qualified prescriber. This can be checked by accessing the NMC website and entering the nurses PIN number. The prescribing qualification will be listed.

    Botox training for beauty therapists?

One reason nurses do not inject in Spain, in fact most european countries outside the UK, is that nurse training and qualifications are entirely different. Their scope of practice and level of training and skills is completely different to the UK. For instance, there is no nurse prescribing...

    Botox training for beauty therapists?

Essentia, at no point has anyone bashed beauty therapists. I am sorry you feel that way. On the contrary, my point was to defend my profession following on from negative incorrect comments re aesthetic nursing. I think if you re-read the thread in its entirety you will see that is evident...

    Botox training for beauty therapists?

People still have an image of nurses taking temperatures and mopping brows. UK nurse training is not equivalent to our European counterparts. We are the only country in Europe who have nurse prescribers/practitioners. It is accepted and a fact that UK nurses are qualified to a higher degree...

    Botox training for beauty therapists?

last week my client and myself were bawling our eyes out in the treatment room. She had a large dent in her forehead from an injury sustained as a child (she is now in her 50's). All her life she had been told there was no treatment. I assessed her, discussed filler and concluded that it was...

    Botox training for beauty therapists?

Just to pick you up on your point re nurses moonlighting. Cosmetic Medicine is a medical specialitiy, in the same way that gastroenterology is a speciality. Nurses once qualified work within a specific area of medicine, and continue to develop professionally within that speciality. My...

    Face sun block

I always advise as a minimum SPF50 to all my clients in clinic. SPF25 is just not enough.

    Botox allergy?

There is ALWAYS the potential for an allergic reaction to botox - in the same way there is the potential for a reaction to any foreign substance be it face cream etc etc. Nothing is 100% risk free. Highlights the fact that only medically qualified practitioners should be administering it...

How do I get rid of a client?

Unbelieveable how some people behave. I would have handled the situation exactly the same.

How much does your accountant charge you?

My accountant SAVES me thousands, therefore in real terms my accountant costs me nothing. I would advise you pay an accountant, particularly if this is your first time calculating self assessment, as it really can be a minefield. You could argue self assessment is not that difficult to do...

    Sterilising lash tweezers

It is not a sterile procedure, therefore no need to sterilise the equipment. Simply disinfecting will be adequate.

Anyone ever used Uma Jeunesse dermal fillers?

Wow! Really surprised a professional would post above as fact! This would appear to be incredibly ill informed. As botox boy pointed out, ALL fillers if injected incorrectly (or indeed correctly) have the potential for adverse reactions. To answer the question re radiesse - Personally...

Has Madonna had too much filler? New pics!

Couldn't agree more. Its actually equally important in this industry for us as practitioners to say NO! The person(s) treating the completely distorted lady in the second image should be struck off! Absolutely disgusting. The same could be said about Michael Jackson's practitioners.

Lip fillers - how much roughly?

I would have hoped that is something which as practitioners we all do. I would also argue in regards to the types of filler used (I only ever use both FDA & CE approved fillers - particularly in light of the PIP scandal, although I have trialed Emervel (I was one of the...
