Some questions straight from nail students!

I teach a business course at a cosmetology college and im trying to compile some info for next weeks' discussion class. I think it will be really beneficial and interesting to get information from techs all over the world, as opposed to just my area, and i think this is the right place for...

    Presto LED Gel

Heres some interesting info on LED lights, they're kind of becoming 'all the rage' in U.S. so this info is very helpful in deciding whether its the right time to jump on this particular bandwagon. BeautyTech.com :: View topic - Interesting info on LED Lights from Jim McConnell

Calgel Infills with NSI Balance Bond?

You should be able to apply balance gel over any other enhancement product. if its a traditional hard gel, or l&p i would just file the enhancement down as thin as possble, and apply the balance gel, building the nail as your normally would. when filling nails originally done by another tech i...

UV3 Technology? What does it mean?

I called CND a few weeks ago to get clarification on the "uv3" thing as well.... another salon in my area was sending out shellac postcards and some of my clients brought them in and wanted to know what it meant. The first girl i spoke with said "hmm, good question" and she put me on hold while...

Some questions about NSI Illusion Gel? Help please!

It's not advisable to use any tack free gel sealer on soak off gels, they are too rigid on top.of the soft gel and this is why they are cracking. Stick with the illusion shine gel (must be buffed before soaking) or the illusion top gel. It's also not ideal to sculpt with, it doesn't have the...

    NSI Balance users please help

This is very odd! I've never seen or heard of an issue like this, are you sure you didn't stir air bubbles into it? Either that or is it possible there were contaminants settled on the bottom of your pot? Maybe filing dust or glitters? It could also be from contaminants on the tool you used to...

    Problem with NSI Gel

It could be a number of things but the first thing that popped into my head is bad bulbs. Could this be your problem?

    Pre-designing with acrylic

Couldn't you also apply the tips with a ball of l&p rather than glue to avoid this problem?

    Water based manicure?

there really is no actual benefit to a water mani, imo... you can add moisurizing soaks to the water and whatnot but they're not going to make much of a difference overall. However, clients love them, its relaxing, especially if you have a heated or jetted manicure bowl or use an effervescent...

Looking for a white sculpting gel that is easy to apply?

After youve scooped out your gel and placed it on the form you need to sort of swirl the Nsi sculpting gel around with your brush a couple times like frosting on a cupcake, this gives it a bit of workability since it is a stiff sculpting gel, then you want to "stretch" it into place rather than...

    Confusing! Tutors teaching different methods.

Since you're already enrolled and attending its probably not feasible to pick up and go somewhere else for your education. If your school has a good reputation (and if it doesnt, why would you be there???!) Then youre probably just experiencing that overwhelming feeling that nearly everyone gets...

    Gel/Polish hybrids

Availability is just as, if not more important than any other factor that goes into choosing a product. No matter how well a product works or how innovative it i, it is utterly useless if you can't get it or use it! :) supply and demand only keeps product alive and kicking if BOTH sides are...

Which NSI products are the best?

I almost forgot to mention nurture oil!!!!!! Purple gold as I call it;) and it retails like crazy, literally sells itself! Permagloss is also great if you have any hairstylists whos enhancements get stained with hairdye. I have a few of those naughty ladies (they refuse to wear gloves no...

Which NSI products are the best?

I am a die hard NSI fan and have literally used every product they sell:) I don't do much l&p anymore but love the Attraction system, it files amazingly smooth, almost feels like gel! I do find most of their pinks a bit on the "warm" side but there are different shades and you can always find...

    Gel/Polish hybrids

Don't think anyone is "dissing", just giving their opinions based on their experiences whether bad or good. it doesn't help anyone to sugar coat or leave out the bad experiences and only mention the good. Nsi have one coming out called polishpro, so does IBD, called gellac:)

    New Jessica Product

Yes i thought of this right after i posted. Unless the gel itself is a completely new formulation, the soak off solvent is likely just as harsh as acetone.

    New Jessica Product

I am also interested in hearing what the soak-off solution contains... the problem most of my clients have with soak off gels are that the acetone is so drying to their skin and natural nails.

    Product advice

I have used IBD liquid and powder was NOT happy with it at all, i think you would be sorry if you spent your money on it:( (i do however like their gel, so I think its a fine company... who knows, maybe their products will work wonderfully for you, i know several techs who use their gel system...
