    Lichen Planus

My husband has Lichen Planus. He has been using prescription strength cortisone. He only needs to treat it when it flares up. He is careful not to use the ointment anywhere there is no visible outbreak. It is an autoimmune disease and there is no cure. He doesn't seem to react to lotions or...

    OPI Axxium Soak-Off Gel???

I am trying the Axxium Gel Polish. It works like it says it does but the color is not like traditional polish. It really needs two thick coats and still looks like a jelly bean to me. If you don't compare it to traditional polish it is OK. But if you are used to "I'm Not Really A Waitress"...

Does tint lift over old tint?

Tint will not lift tint. You can not go lighter without some kind of bleaching action. HighLift is still bleach but less damaging than double process. It is hard to give advice without seeing your hair. How long have you had the same hairstylist? Do you trust him? TALK to him. Tell him ALL of...

Problem with gel top coat looking dirty.

Hi, I don't know why the top coat looks dirty to you. I thought it looked cloudy. I like IBD top coats better and find them to be compatible with Brisa. I live in the USA and where I am there is no availability of face to face training. I have 30 years experience as a licensed nail tech and...

    Please take a look...

I like your web site too. I do agree on bubbles and a few typos to fix. Otherwise it's great. Don't work 12 hours a day even if you are willing to go out morning and evening. Maybe stagger between am days and pm days. Good Luck!

    Bleach + Perm = Disaster???

Even with a perm that is formulated for bleached hair you are really taking your chances with perming. If you get curl and it is not "FRIED" your curl may not stay. The smart answer is to wait. You don't say how long your hair but i'm betting it is sholder length or more if you are doing a...

Which system are you more comfortable with and why?......

I use Brisa Gel. I just got comfortable with my application and feel confident with Gels as one of the services I offer. I also like some of the IBD products and they seem to be compatible. I use Clarite L&P. I used OPI Oderless for years and had to switch when they discontinued the original...

At my height of flusteration - any ideas?

Hi. I use Brisa and I have been trying some other accessory products. I had to learn on my own as there are no classes being offered in my area. But as soon as the opportunity presents itself I will go for more training. I applied gels to myself and just keep working on problems as they come...

    When one gives up smoking....

GOOD FOR ALL OF YOU! I quit 11 years ago. It took me 10 attempts before I was successful. I didn't have physical craving after the first 30 days but even now I sometimes think a cig would be just the thing. I am always a little surprised when this happens but now I just accept it as...

    Pedicures & Toe Nail Clippings

If the nails are soaked sufficiently then they are less likely to fly. I use a bin for clippings and I have a cordless vacuum ($40.00 US Dollars) that I use after all services. It works well to pick up errant clippings, it is quick and looks good to the next client when they see me clean the floor.

Odourless - OPI Clarite users question please

I have used OPI odorless for years. I just switched to Clarite because they are no longer making the original OPI Odorless L&P but I was told that Clarite is the same product. The powder is finer so I had to work with it a bit to become familiar with the ratio. Odorless monomer does not cure...

Am I too old to enter the beauty industry?

I am 58. I didn't start beauty school until I was 30. I have been a salon professional almost 30 years. My mother retired from the restaurant industry and was bored. She went to beauty school at 62. Became a nail tech and was a successful salon pro until she retired at 72. So do YOU think...

Feeling out of touch - where to start again??

It is like riding a bike. Once you learn how you never forget but might be a bit wobbly at first. your confidence will come back once you get started again. Maybe try a couple freebies on friends or family. One of the things I wanted when I started in the salon industry was time control. I...
