I’ve left the industry, trying to find a replacement therapist

Thank you Rosie, after knowing my clients for up to 20 years I don’t like leaving them high and dry. Also as most of them are now friends they moan at me every night out or when I visit! Your good will wishes are really appreciated.:)

I’ve left the industry, trying to find a replacement therapist

As I said I’ve finished my mobile beauty therapy business but I’d like to find a replacement beauty therapist/waxing/massage/reflexologist for some of my clients. I never advertised online so not too sure how that works but I now realise even when people leave their business their online...

    Cruelty free products

Sneaking over from beauty but I use Maria Nila shampoo, conditioner and their colour refreshers and love them all. I'm not a hairdresser though so only speaking as a 'client'.

    OPI GelColor course?

Signed up to Glasgow course 3 times and cancelled every time. Can't sort out shrinkage with dark colours so I've just purchased shellac colours and getting light tomorrow and hoping to do conversion course in March. I'll be practising on family this weekend so hopefully I'll leave them happy...

    OPI gel polish removal

http://www.beautyexpress.co.uk/gel-foil-wraps/ Use similar to these with Expert Touch removal and the gel colour comes off without a problem. I don't file top coat or use heated mitts. (mainly through laziness, not because I don't agree with the gloves!)

Which is the best waxing kit you can buy from Sally's?

Used this pot for years. http://www.sallyexpress.com/salon-services-white-wax-heater-1000cc/ Here it is in a kit from Beauty Express. http://www.beautyexpress.co.uk/waxing-starter-kit/ Now use this. http://www.beautyexpress.co.uk/dual-digital-wax-pot-heater-1000cc-amp-500cc/

    Keeping wax warm whilst mobile

I've been mobile for years and have no solution I'm afraid!! I heard you could get a plug for cigarette lighter that would then fit into my dual hive pot but the connections are no use. I spoke to an electrician and when he looked at volts and amps he told me it would blow my lighter. I was...

    PR refreshing gel

People can be allergic to many things whilst others can handle anything. Good chance it was cooling gel if that's only difference. I use jasmine oil then the gel and haven't had any reactions but always a first time. Simple products and E45 are terrible for my skin and can make it flare up in...

    Wax heater cord for car?

Hi Kim, I looked at this but only converts to 230v and my pot is 450 so it would blow fuse in car. I've seen one that goes to 300v, I may just buy it and try. The fuse it will blow will only be for my cigarette lighter which I never use anyway. Looking into your suggestion of a salon though...

    Wax heater cord for car?

Does anyone heat their dual wax heater (I have a hive) in car from cigarette lighter and if so where did you get cord from? My heater is 450 watt and although I can get a 450 inverter it says most car lighters are 200 watt so not enough power and will probably blow my fuse in car. I'd be...

    Bedding for facials?

I use bed cover from Beauty Express http://www.beautyexpress.co.uk/salon-towels-and-beauty-couch-covers/ Folded towel or cushion with towel over it for under head and a nice soft blanket on top. I have an electric blanket for winter months as kit gets cold in boot of car. I also recommend a roll...

    Scottish Beauty show 2015

Last one I went to was years ago in Glasgow but mainly teeth whitening and tans so didn't bother last few years. Have looked at exhibitors and see OPI and Adam and Eve are there and a few other ones I fancy seeing. So just wondered if anyone has gone today do you recommend it? Thank you.

    Feeling deflated

I too use jasmine oil from PR but know a few therapists who only use talc. For me the oil has made waxing so much easier. I use non strip on Hollywood/Brazilian bikini but strip everywhere else, legs, underarms bikini tidy. I use PR Cristal Ocean for strip and Euroblonde for non. Everyone is...

    Microplane?

How do you remove/separate the metal part? The leaflet with it showed a diagram of it being in 2 bits but I've always been too nervous to push any part too hard. To OP, I have 3, had 4 but I broke handle on one. They should last for quite a while, 9 - 12 months, but I recommend having more than...

Please help-what is this on my lady's eyebrow?

I get this everywhere I wax, looks terrible on my legs. I now have my face threaded as skin doesn't react in same way to it, goes red but no swelling. I also now only use sudocrem on facial waxing as even the gentlest after wax creams sometimes irritated client's skin. Never had a problem since...

    Clients turning up poorly

One of my clients on 29th December rushed off bed half way through treatment then told me she had norovirus. Night of 30th I took ill and had to cancel all my clients on Hogmany. At work last week I lost count of the number of clients I visited who were sneezing, coughing and telling me how ill...

Plus sized uniform help - trousers

Never mind different from high street sizes, I bought 3 same size tops from one online retailer and only one fitted! But yes, salon clothes are definitely different sizes, look for a sizing chart and measure yourself in all the places they have sizes for then add a wee inch or 2 on to your...

    Tips for waxing?

I find top half of underarm hair grows one way and lower half the other way (not always but more often than not.) so I wax top half then lower half. Sometimes if hairs are left I put a small bit of wax on again and remove but never any more than that in case it irritates but I find this way...

Trouble with wax removal - help

Below is the best oil I've ever used. There's also litre bottle but you only use tiny amount for each leg so bottle will last for ages if you want to try before buying big bottle. For me wax sticking has always been due to dry skin but I'm mobile so people are warmer in their own homes rather...
