It sounds like you need more practice. Perhaps a few more clients (non paying or reduced fee) until you feel more confident.

Yeah I give discounts to my close family but everyone else pays full price. I was worse for this at the start and gave discounts constantly and then realised how much money I was losing! Most of my friends realise it's my business and how I earn money and not a hobby.

I'm doing CND Enhance at the mo. You get enough product to last you for quite a few clients. Re liquid and powder we learned how to sculpt and tip. I had a model with fan shaped nails so I was shown how to tailor the tip to make it for better.
