When I originally trained in gel polish we were taught to not topcoat and cleanse the top colour coat to create a Matte finish, (which means the service isn't as likely to last as long) since then there are matte topcoats, maybe she is still using the no topcoat method?

If you feel a deposit isn't the right option for you, how about booking them as your last client, so if they do cancel you can just finish a little earlier rather than waiting around with a gap in your day?

What system are you using? You need to use the correct led lamp for your products, otherwise you risk products being under cured and your client having a reaction. However most systems will cure under any uv lamp with correct wattage though.

50/50 sounds right if you are supplying products, unless you charge exceptionally high/low prices then it may need a slight tweak

You can lay them on their bed/sofa etc...but believe me you'll want a couch after a couple of treatments(it's a complete back breaker-I've been to a clients house where no space for a couch. Also there's the risk of damaging their furniture with product-which is going to cost more than a couch!)...
